Coyote had called his boyfriend the day before to let him know that he was going to be gone for a while because he had to go to Texas to get his cousin. He called again as soon as they arrived back in Arizona, at the airport.

"Hey, Phoenix, this is Coyo. D'ya think you could come pick me and River up from the airport? I kinda have a favor to ask you."

Phoenix rubbed his eyes and looked at the clock. The angry red numbers read 4;15. "Sure babe. Just let me get dressed, I'm not usually up this early." He smirked slightly "And you know how I love to sleep naked" He could just envision his boyfriend's blush on the other end of the line. "Give me half an hour"

Phoenix was still yawning as he pulled up to the airport. He picked his cell phone out of the cup holder and dialed Coyo's number to let him know he was parked in front.

When he walked out, Coyote had his arms around the shoulders of a taller Native American man, his hair in one long, silky braid that went down to his waist. The man had his face downcast, avoiding meeting anyone's eyes, and slid silently into the back seat at Coyote's prompting.

"Phoenix, this is my cousin River Gathers-Moonlight-Shadows. Be nice to him, 'kay? He's had a rough week. River, this is my boyfriend, Phoenix."

River tilted his head just enough to look at Phoenix through his eyelashes, which were long and thick. "....hi," he said, before returning his eyes to his lap and scrunching his shoulders together.

Phoenix gave River a charming smile. "Pleased to meet you." He put his firebird into gear and looked at Coyote. "McDonalds is open, you want me to stop so you guys can eat? It'll be on me, I promise" He gave Coyote a slightly different smile as his hand moved from the gearshift to Coyote's thigh to give it a gentle squeeze. "We can even prank call Lyric from the pay phones again if you want.

Coyote shot a concerned glance over his shoulder to his cousin, then shook his head. "I... don't really think River is up for eating right now, Phoe. He doesn't do so well with flying. We'll take a raincheck on that. I do wanna talk to you after we get home, okay?"

When they were back on the reservation and Coyote's mother was done fussing over River, Coyote pulled Phoenix aside to have a little chat. "Uh, Phoenix? D'you... have any guy friends that like guys...? River needs a boyfriend bad. Someone really nice. Even nicer than you. He's got... well, real low self-esteem. Y'see..." he said, looking around to make sure River wouldn't overhear. "His mom, my aunt Maria, was... well, she was a whore. And now he's, like, terrified that he's going to wind up like her. You saw how absolutely beautiful he is, didn't you? He looks just like his mom. And he's not like me; he doesn't eat cuz he likes food, he eats to make himself less attractive so he won't end up a whore."

Phoenix groaned and leaned forward so he could rest his head on Coyote's shoulder. "Do you realize what you're asking me to do?" He whined. "You're asking me to play matchmaker-I hate matchmakers, Coyote. They made my life hell through high school." He sighed loudly and dramatically. "If I help you, you'll owe me big time"

"Of course, Phoe. I'll do anything you want, absolutely anything. Your wish is my command. Just please, please help me out here. I wouldn't ask if I didn't really, really need your help; you know that."

"I'll see what I can do. Most of the guys I know, the gay ones anyway, are real assholes. I may know one or two nice ones" Phoenix sighed. He shifted his head so he could look at Coyote's face with a pout. "You should pet me, I'm still tired."
