It was the last show of the night, and the ringmaster had just performed the closing ceremonies. She stood at the side of the ring in her fluffy pink skirt and mismatched shoes and waved goodbye to all of the patrons as the filed out of the tent. When everyone was gone, she pounced on Rufus, the ringmaster, and congratulated him on yet another job well done.

The whole group spent several hours cleaning up for the night, as per the usual, and then they slowly wandered off to their trailers for the night. Jennaveeve was amongst the last to leave, and she changes into a different costume before stepping out into the cool night air.

Over by the animal's tent, the tamer had just come out of the tent, only to be confronted by a shadowy figure with light colored hair. The tamer looked frightened and started to back away but the newcomer changed his shadowy form into that of a snake and lashed out at the tamer.

He gave a frightened gasp and clutched his neck, stumbling backwards. He fell to the ground a moment later.

Jennaveeve was frozen in terror at the man's strange transformation. When the snake struck out at her friend the animal tamer and the blood began to spurt from his neck, she screamed at the top of her lungs.

A hand clamped over her mouth from behind. The man had returned to his human form and had somehow managed to get behind her. "That isn't a wise decision." he hissed, his breath hot on her ear.

Her eyes went wide and she let out a soft, terrified whimper. She could feel her knees begin to shake and she feared that she would fall; she began to hyperventilate.

"I am going to let go of your mouth now. Don't make a sound" He hissed. He released her mouth, grabbing her arm instead and leading her away from the circus and towards a plain black car.

She stumbled weakly after him, trying her best not to scream; she didn't really think that she could scream, though, through her quick, erratic breathing. She'd never been so scared in her life.

He shoved her back against the car and loomed over her, looking deep into her eyes with his cold steel gray ones. "Somno" he commanded simply.

Against her will, her eyes drifted shut and she slumped back against the car before falling limply to the ground at his feet.

Showing a strange amount of care, the man picked her up off the ground and set her in the back seat. Then he climbed into the driver's seat and drove away, the engine almost silent.

She came to hours later and sat up groggily, peering around herself in confusion. It took her a while to realize that she wasn't in her trailer, or in any of the tents. When she finally focused in on her captor in the driver's seat, it all came rushing back to her and she screamed again, trying to claw her way out of the car.

Without looking away from the road, the man leaned over and restrained her with one hand. "Stop. That is highly unnecessary." he stated coldly.

She flinched away from his touch, but quickly shut her mouth. She scooted as far away from the stranger as she could and began to cry silently.

Again without looking from the road, the man reached into the middle console and pulled out a travel pack of tissues and dropped them in her lap.

She pulled a few tissues from the pack and buried her face in them; after a few minutes of quiet sobbing she managed to calm herself and wiped her face. Still sniffling softly, she pulled her feet up into the seat and looked over at him timidly.

"This is a five hundred thousand dollar car and I would appreciate if you would keep your feet off the leather interior." The man stated, his voice void of any emotion.

Jennaveeve let out a soft, mortified squeak and put her feet back on the floor, cowering away from the man. She had just started to stop being terrified of him.

"Thank you." He replied, returning his full silent attention to the road. It seemed if she wanted answers whe would have to ask some questions.

"Uh...uhm, mister? Where are we?" she asked hesitantly, still wary of him. "Where are you taking me?"

"We are somewhere in Kansas" He replied. "And I'm not taking you anywhere. You're just along for the ride really."

"Well... why? Why'd you have to take me? Who are you, anyway?"

"You saw what happened. I couldn't just leave you there to spoil my get away." He stated, pulling a card out of the middle console. It was blank save for a phone number and a red... inkspot?
