Karkat howled in frustration and slammed his husktop closed, shoving himself away from the desk. He paced angrily back and forth across the room, tugging on fistfuls of his hair. He couldn't wait an hour; in an hour he would have lost his nerve. There was no way he could wait an entire hour to ask John to be his Matesprit.

Sollux watched the entire show with a small look of amusement. He, of course, had been monitering the conversation so he knew what Karkat's easily solvable problem was. "Hey, kk. You do realithe that we can jump around their timeline, right? Remember? You were uthing that feature to troll him not too long ago. Jutht jump ahead by an hour on hith timeline and get him to come."

"....Fuck you, Sollux," he growled, stomping back to his desk. He would have thought of that himself, had he been thinking clearly, so he certainly wasn't about to thank that fuckass for the advice. He pulled Trollian back up on the husktop and slid the dot on John's light blue timeline forward an hour.

CG: HEY, FUCKASS, ARE YOU DONE WITH YOUR THING YET?

CG: YEAH I FUCKING GUESS
CG: HOLD ON, SOLLUX IS LIKE RIGHT HERE
CG: I'LL MAKE HIS USELESS ASS DO IT.

Karkat glared over his shoulder in Sollux's general direction. "Okay, fuckass, since you're so fucking smart, why don't you go appearify the stupid human for me?"

Sollux smirked. "You want him naked in your recooperacoon too, kk?" he asked with faux sweetness. "Hith bulge tied with a ribbon?" He typed commands away at his keyboard.

"Shut you gogdamn mouth, Sollux! You know that's not what I fucking want! Just fucking appearify him here, gogdamn!" Karkat spluttered in a rage, clenching his fists. He knew it had been a bad idea to let Sollux in on this.

"But that'th tho boring" Sollox complained before hitting enter and John found himself in the middle of the room blinking stupidly.

Before Sollux had a chance to say anything and ruin it all, Karkat grabbed John by his wrist and drug him out of the room and towards his respiteblock. "Come on, grubfucking human! Hurry the fuck up!"

John stumbled along after him. "Whoa! slow down I can't keep up!" he complained.

"Well hurry the fuck up, before Sollux spoils everything!" he growled. He finally stopped in front of the plain gray door to his respiteblock and opened the door, gesturing impatiently for John to go inside.

John stepped in, rubbing his sore wrists with a pout. "You don't have to be so pushy" he stated.

Karkat made a noise of frustration and slammed the door shut behind them. He whirled around to face John and stared the boy down, his expression slowly changing from anger to anxiety as the silence lengthened. I can't do this, he thought. I can't say it.

John plopped down in Karkat's desk chair. "So what's up Beep beep meow?" he grinned.

Karkat's face flushed at the pet name. "I told you not to fucking call me that," he growled, trying to sound angry; mostly he just sounded horribly embarrassed. He covered his face with a hand and took a deep, deep breath, trying to steady himself. "I wanted to tell you something, Egbert."
