Rain Dance

"He's got even less tact than you," Adair remarked, as he finally began cutting off some meat for himself.

"I've noticed," Voltaire replied dryly, also getting some food. "That's quite a feat, considering me."

"Don't encourage him." Damon stated, walking in.

"I don't think I need to," Voltaire replied dryly.

"He encourages himself" Kimi mumbled.

"I made a second pig for Ava, will she eat all of it?" Damon asked, ignoring the comments.

"She eats a whole deer just fine. I'm sure she'll have no trouble," Voltaire answered.

"Alright, Dawn is taking it out to her now." Damon nodded

"Alright. She'll like it," Voltaire replied, as he worked on his meal. "I know I do."

"Dawn is a good cook." Damon nodded.

"Send him my compliments then," Voltaire answered.

"How long have you and Dawn stayed at this place?" Adair asked, also enjoying his food.

"... Two, maybe three hundred years" Damon replied, looking thoughtful.

"Really?" asked Adair, looking around. "This place doesn't seem that old."

"I've heard he's had to rebuild it a couple times recently," Voltaire explained.

"Good up keep" Damon smirked.

Kimi ate her food quietly.

"But if you've been here so long, how are the local people not suspicious?" asked Voltaire. "Do you constantly change your appearance or something?"

"Something like that" Damon chuckled.

"I see," Voltaire answered. He could use an ability like that. They wouldn't have to be running all the time. Maybe even have something resembling a normal life for a while.

"Its more Dawn's ability though. I just do what he tells me to" Damon sighed.

"More of an angle thing then," Voltaire guessed. "So you guys can lend each other power? Or is it more you guys casting spells on each other?"

"More of the second one, though we can do the first." Damon stated. "Neither is very hard."

"So it's like bonds then?" Voltaire asked. "Borrowing soul and paying it back later?"

"No. Not even close." Damon chuckled. "We have a different sort of power that comes from our horns and halos."

"Oh," Voltaire replied. Everything was horns and haloes here.

"You will be able to do some of the thing I can after the ceremony" Damon assured him.

"Really?" replied Voltaire, interested sparked. "Does that include disguises?"

"When is the ceremony, by the way?" Adair asked.

"At the rate preparation is going, three days." Damon replied. "And possibly a glamour if you can handle it. It takes many many years to prefect. Mine took almost a hundred and I was quick."

Voltaire snorted. A hundred years would be a hundred years too late to do him much good now.

"So, uh, guess I need to get a wedding present," Adair mumbled, mostly to himself. He was clearly at a loss at what to get.
