Goodwill Hunting

Josh led Ashby up to the edge of the woods bordering his property, and showed him where to drop the buck off. He would skin and gut the animal a bit later; he wanted to get his gun put up first. He insisted that Ashby come up to the house with him and told him to make himself comfortable in the living room.

"I'm gonna go get changed outta my huntin' gear, and then I'm gonna make ya some dinner, and we can discuss gettin' that book o' yours replaced."

Ashby didn't say much, but he did sit on the couch to wait. When he settled into the cushions he once again adopted the unnatural stillness that he had in the woods. He crossed his arms, more for comfort than annoyance. At this point all he cared about was getting his book replaced and finishing it.

Josh changed into a pair of baggy, faded bluejeans, not bothering to put on a shirt, and headed back downstairs. He didn't say anything as he went past Ashby in the living room on his way to the kitchen. There was a sound of pans clattering as he started to get things together for dinner.

"Hey, Ashby, what sounds better ta you: fish, venison, er turkey?" he called.

"I don't care" Ashby replied. "Whatever you want I suppose... Would you like me to help?"

"Hell, you can help if ya wanna," he said. "Come on in here an' help me decide what ta make. I got plenty ingredients."

Ashby got up fluidly and walked into the kitchen. He raised a brow at the kitchen. "Where do I start?"

Josh waved him over to the refrigerator and gestured to the three options. "The fish I pulled out of the freezer last night to thaw; it's catfish I caught back in the summer. The venison is from the last buck I took, the rest of the deer's in the freezer now, but I figured I'd save some of it for dinner this week. The turkey I got in a trap last week; it's not very big, but wild turkeys taste better than that store-bought shit. Case ya couldn't tell, I hunt most of my food."

"... How... economic of you." Ashby stated. He stepped silently over to the fridge and peered inside. "What about turkey in a rice and vegetable medley?" He asked.

"Sounds tasty, man. I'll get out the rice an' veggies if you wanna break that turkey down inta somethin' workable."

Ashby pulled out the turkey and moved over to the counter. It was only a matter of seconds before the meat was in decent sized pieces to fry, and there was no sign of any cutting utensil. "Anything else?" he asked

Josh stared at him in shock, then laughed nervously. "Yer sure somethin' else, buddy. Not even gonna ask how you did that. Uh... you could put on a pot o' water ta boilin' fer the rice."

Ashby nodded and went to the cabinet with the pots without hesitation as if he'd lived there all his life. He picked out an appropriate pot and filled it with water before putting it on the stove. "And now?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.

Josh was cutting vegetables and he raised an eyebrow at Ashby. "Ya obviously know how ta cook. Ya ain't gotta wait fer instructions; just do what needs doin'."

"But I'm not the cook" Ashby stated. "And this isn't my kitchen. Its bad luck and bad etiquette."

Josh rolled his eyes and handed Ashby the knife to cut the vegetables.

Later that night, after discussing the replacing of Ashby's book over dinner, Josh was trying to think of some way that he could pay for the several-thousands-of-dollars-out-of-print-since-WW2-German-Classic, but nothing was coming to mind.

"Okay, buddy, listen: There is no way I'm gonna be able ta pay for that book; 'least not all at once. But yer welcome ta hang around an' collect payments on it till I can get ya a new one."

"I suppose, It does seem like a better option than ripping out your liver and calling it even." Ashby stated with a serious look on his face. He raised an eyebrow when he got an alarmed look from Josh. "I was joking"

"R-right... So, uh, anyway... If yer gonna be hangin' around fer a while, ya should tell me some about yaself. Like... I dunno..." he trailed off, searching for a good question to ask. A mischievous smile crossed his face as he figured out exactly what he wanted to know. "Like, r'ya into men er women?"

"Men." Ashby scowled. "Women are only on this god forsaken planet to do two things: Have children, and then kill the men."

Josh raised an eyebrow and somehow managed to keep himself from laughing. "Okay then, top or bottom?" he asked bluntly.

"Top. Haven't met a creature that can top me yet." Ashby growled.

Josh grinned widely and licked his lips. "Your place or mine?"

Ashby looked at him for a long moment. Then, in the blink of an eye, he was on top of him, kissing him fiercely and running his hands along his body.

Josh wrapped his arms around Ashby's neck and tangled his hands in the Yowie's hair, moaning and arching into his touch.

It was easy enough for the Yowie to rid the younger man of his clothes (without ripping anything, too), and get his own off in the process. He smirked, a predatorial glint in his eye as he took in the redneck's nude form.

Josh groaned in disappointment when Ashby pulled away, only suppressing the whimper that wanted to escape his lips by sheer force of will. He grabbed the Yowie's shoulders and tried to pull him down, knowing that it wouldn't do him any good but hoping it would get his point across.
