Rain Dance

"No, nothing's your fault," Voltaire replied. "It's just..." -An idea came to mind - "I'm tired. Is it okay if I lie down?"

"That's fine, I don't mind." Kimi replied, leaning back again. "I can meditate while you nap."

Voltaire went ahead and laid his head in her lap. Hopefully this would keep her from bolting if she freaked out. Besides, he really was tired, and his back ached hotly.

"What the hell did I do to my back?" he muttered to himself.

"You made wings out of fire then flew around the room, all while sleep walking." Kimi replied simply. "And singing. It was very pretty."

Voltaire gave Kimi a long stare. "...What?"

Kimi sighed. "Last night, you started singing, then you made fire, then you make wings from the fire. Then you started flying around until Adaire came back." She explained "Then you just went back to sleep."

"I know what you said," Voltaire replied a bit crossly. "It's just my brain's having trouble comprehending it. I don't remember that at all. Though I guess if I was asleep then I wouldn't remember it anyway."

Voltaire frowned. It hadn't been the first time he had done something strange in his sleep. The sleep-singing episodes had been going on for a while, according to Ava and Adair. There had been a couple of reports of him dancing asleep, or just walking around in circles. And he didn't remember one damn bit of it. It would have been funny if it didn't disturb him so much.

"Maybe its from stress." Kimi replied.

Voltaire shrugged. "Probably built-up demonic energy. When you draw too much in too little time it can make you sick, or make you act weird. None of this sleep-whatever stuff happened until I was a changeling. Stress probably doesn't help either, but that's life."

"Hm, well take a nap. That might help." Kimi smiled

"I just slept eight freakin' hours," Voltaire protested, but he felt himself yawning anyway. That was what he got for lying down. Then he remembered why he laid down in the first place, and it wasn't for rest.

"Look, uh..." he began. "Whatever happened before, way before, I don't care. Well, I do care, it's just...past is past. It's already happened and it's not gonna change. Or something like that."

Kimi frowned down at Voltaire. "What are you talking about?" She asked "You're not making any sense."

"I don't care about your past. Let's just leave it at that," Voltaire clarified. "And...just don't want you to leave, I guess. Not that we know where the hell we're going besides another tournament, but...I dunno, I'll just shut up. I should only sound this stupid when I'm drunk."

Kimi frowned. "You still don't make any sense." she murmured. She pet his hair lightly.

"...I don't know what the hell I'm saying either," Voltaire admitted. "Usually this isn't a problem for me."

Voltaire sighed, wondering if he would have to be blunt as usual. He didn't want to make her panic but he didn't need this hanging over their heads either.

"Sleep on it. You might have better luck when you're less tired." Kimi smiled slightly.

"If I sleep I might end up flying around the room again," Voltaire grumbled. Now if only he could figure out how to do that when he was awake. "Look, Adair...told me about what happened to you. He apologizes for being an ass the other night. Anyway, I don't hold it against you or anything. I'm pissed at the bastard who did it to you, not at you."

There, he said it. He waited for the fallout.

Kimi stiffened, her smile vanishing instantly. "I-I don't know what you're talking about." She murmured, turning her head away and wiping away the tears that sprung to her eyes. "Just go to sleep."

"Fine," Voltaire replied, deciding not to pursue the subject. She knew that he knew, and hopefully understood that he didn't hate her for it, and that was what counted.

He felt himself drifting off. So he really was that tired. Still, being this easily exhausted early on in the tournament did not bode well. How was he going to handle a big 16-round tournament if he could barely make it through a 4-round one?

Kimi sighed and tried to return to meditation. Unfortunately, Voltaire's 'confession' had her in a state of inner turmoil. She tried her best not to show it.

Kimi didn't seem to be freaking out, which was a good sign. He hadn't known what he was going to do if she started crying. Of course, it wasn't like Voltaire could have done worse than Adair had done earlier. Leave it to Voltaire to screw things up; leave it to Adair to screw things up royally.

Still he was a bit uneasy. He just hoped that she wouldn't run off again as soon as he left.

Kimi settled for planning her next move. Of course she was still going to try and leave when Voltaire and Adair went to fight. She was certain of it. Neither of them could stop her, and by the time they could, she would be long gone.

(Don't worry. I have a plan... Sorta. How easy is it to disrupt one of these tournaments?)

(Hmm, good question XD. Pretty hard actually. Most likely thing would be a bunch of Heroes/Hunters waltzing in and causing chaos. They try to prevent that, but it occasionally happens anyway.)

Voltaire soon fell completely asleep, his slumber dreamless.

Kimi pretended to still be meditating when she felt Voltaire stir. Maybe he would think she was asleep and just leave her be. She wasn't sure when he would have to leave.

(I don't think they could barge right into a match unless they suspected Voltaire and Adair to be directly involved with Kimi. They could be stalking around bothering people/demons though, or possibly do something before the match starts. There are a lot of demons around in general, so just storming the place would probably be suicidal unless the soldiers happen to be that freaking strong.)

Voltaire got up hoping he'd feel better. He felt worse. The hot throbbing in his back was radiating to the rest of his body, his hangover migraine was still there, and on top of everything else he had a sore throat too. And he still had to fight the Ravens later. Joy. He did not want to get up.
