"I wish the same upon you" Negau turned to leave. "Oh, he knows about what she's been through doesn't he?" He asked, turning back.

Adair nodded. "Makes him all the more protective," he added with a smirk.

"What?" Negau asked in confusion

(What did he just imply?)

Now Adair was the one confused.

"I mean, he doesn't want anything else to happen to her. He'll protect her."

(...facepalm moment)

"Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you said productive" Negau sighed. "well, Can I talk to you outside?"

"Sure," Adair answered. He glanced at Voltaire and Kimi. Both were still sleeping.

Negau led him to the tunnel and stopped. "Because of everything she's been through... What he did to her... Your friend should know... We're not entirely sure if she can, y'know, bear young." He stated softly. "Talmara used to carve us up with a white hot iron forge rod. And I really mean carve. There were times where we weren't even able to feed. The imps had to take care of us."

Adair looked to the side. He didn't want to think of what other ways the two demon royals had been tortured.

"I think that's the last thing on 'Taire's mind right now," he replied, though he had his suspicions about how far Voltaire had been taking things with Kimi. Pet names and frequent kisses were signs of more than friendship and general protectiveness. "...But I'll let him know. Does Kimi know?"

"I'm not sure. But the last time Mirra had to heal us, I heard her discussing it with the other imps." Negau sighed. "In our race, that is the only reason for the females, to create more and carry on our lineage. I wish it weren't, but it is."

"Good thing Taire's not of that race, eh?" Adair answered with a slight smirk. Something else occurred to him. "...To be honest, I don't think it would make that much of a difference. He's human and she's a demon. I don't know if they could...produce anyway."

Such a relationship might have bothered Adair before, but now he was used to demons intermingling with everything. The tournaments and constant travels in demonic places had numbed him to it. Besides, he knew they loved each other dearly. Wasn't that all that mattered in the end?

"Because of interbreeding?" Negau asked "No, our kind can produce feasible offspring with humans. Its rare, but it happens. A friend of mine who had been exiled had a child with a human."

"Really?" asked Adair. Most demons he knew, though able to intermingle, didn't produce offspring with humans, at least not in the traditional sense. Sometimes demons could possess unborn children, and changelings and geniuses could have offspring with some inherited power, but direct pairing didn't produce anything. "What was the kid like?"

"Quiet. Moody. Very talented though" Negau replied with a shrug. "Took after my friend."

"I mean, physically," Adair specified. "More human? Demon?"

"Human. but with more defined characteristics." Negau replied. "Like the ears, eyes and longer, thinner fingers. She is very pretty though."

"Ah," Adair answered. He tried to imagine a cross between Voltaire and Kimi and ended up with a tiny, white-haired version of the Hunter running about and causing chaos. "Anyway, I'll let him know. Thanks for telling me."
