Jylair laid across the couch with her head laying in her cousin's lap. There was a scifi movie marathon on television today and they were waiting on her other two friends to show up.

Requiem was absently running his fingers through her hair and mumbling a song in French.

"They're late."

"Don't worry. Perhaps they stopped for food or something."

"You don't know them Requ."

Requiem shrugged and returned to his absent thoughts.

A few minutes later, a frustrated-looking Shaunee burst into the room. "Sorry, Jay, sorry! Basil couldn't get his ass ready in time! The movie didn't start yet, did it?" she said in a rush. She stopped for a moment to catch her breath while Basil trudged up behind her. She shot him a distasteful glare and headed over to the couch, giving Jylair's cousin an appreciative look.
"Hi! You're Requiem? That's a pretty bitchin' name. I'm Shaunee. Nice to meet you."

Requiem looked up at them blankly. "Bonjour." He stated. "Nice you meet the two of you as well."

"Hey." Basil mumbled. He sat on the couch at Jylair's feet.

"The movie starts in five minutes. But now if you want snacks, you get to make your own and miss movie." Jylair stated. She gave Basil a small kick. "Thanks Silvia."

"Ha, ha." Hasil grumbled.

"Mmkay." Shaunee said offhandedly. "I'll just have to miss a bit, then. Bass, whatcha want to snack on? I think there's stuff to make Chex mix, and Imma heat some oil up and make funnel cake on commercial breaks. Jay loves my funnel cake. Dontcha, Jay?"

"Mmmmmmmmmm. Funnel cake" Jylair replied with a contented smile.

"I'm not hungry. Dad make me eat before I left. That's part of what took so long." Basil replied.

"Psh. You're no fun, Basil. What about you, Requiem? You want any funnel cake? If ya do, you better speak up now or Jay'll eat it all. And I do mean all of it." She laughed and grinned at Jylair, teasing.

Requiem shrugged. "I suppose, someone has to keep Jylair from eating it all"

"Reck I am not afraid to bite you" Jylair scowled.

Shaunee giggled and ran off to the kitchen to make her first batch of funnel cake. She made a bit of a mess in her hurry to get done, but she figured they'd have to clean it up later anyway. She hurried back to the living room and plopped onto the couch, making room for herself between Jylair and Requiem so that they could share the plate full of funnel cake bites she'd brought out with her. "Did I miss much?"

"Just the basic start or any movie drama" Jylair stated

"Sci-fi movie drama" Requiem corrected.

Shaunee nodded and giggled before reaching across herself to feed a piece of funnel cake to Jylair. She gave Requiem a long look, trying to decide if she could get away with it, then held a piece of the greasy fair fodder up to his mouth.

Requiem took the snack with his hand and put it in his mouth himself, but not before Shaunee caught a glimpse of his fangs.

"THIS IS SO FREAKING GOOD!!" Jylair exclaimed happily.

Shaunee snorted and started laughing. "Okay, Jylair, goddamn! Not like you haven't had 'em before. What do you think, Fangs?" she asked, grinning widely at Requiem to show off her own, considerably smaller, fangs.

"My mom's is better." Requiem shrugged. "But then again, she puts cinnamon in the batter. But these aren't half bad."

Shaunee smiled, pleased with herself, and settled back to watch the movie.

Some time later, the movie had taken a turn towards horror, and Shaunee had her knees pressed to her chest and her wide eyes trained on the screen. A sudden loud noise scared the bejeezus out of her, and she squealed with fright and grabbed Requiem's arm.

Requiem jumped at the sudden contact. When he saw that it was just Shaunee, he detangled his arm and wrapped it around her, pulling her to his chest protectively.

Shaunee instinctively curled her fingers into the front of his shirt, cuddling close against him for safety without even thinking about it. ....Until, that is, she noticed that she could feel his breath on her neck, at which point she blushed but made no attempt to move away from him.

Requiem was, in general, unphased by horror movies. It probably had something to do with seeing his father kill every member of his mother's family in a fit of rage when he was young. There were scarier things in life that what hollywood could cook up and dish out.

Shaunee stayed cuddled against Requiem's side through the remainder of the movie, long after the monster had been dealt with and disposed of. She instinctively knew she was going to catch crap about it from Jylair and Basil, but she really didn't care. She thought Requiem was pretty great, with the way he'd held her when she was scared; it was very gentlemanly and charming.

Jylair was the first to notice Shaunee clinging to Requiem. "You do know the movie's over right?" She chuckled. "People might talk if you keep that up" She kicked Basil in the shoulder (He was sitting next to her legs leaning against the couch) when he opened his mouth "No one asked you"

She glared in Jylair's direction defiantly and made no attempt to move away from him at all. "As long as he's not complaining," she said, not finishing her thought. She pulled a face, thoughtful, and then looked over at Requiem to make sure that he wasn't complaining.

"I don't care" Requiem stated. "You're not bothering me any."

"What's the next movie?" Basil asked, trying to change the subject.

Shaunee stuck her tongue out at Jylair and smirked, cuddling closer to Requiem and making herself comfortable; she didn't plan on getting up for a while unless she had to; there was plenty of funnel cake left from the last batch. "Yeah, what's next, Jay?"

"Shawn of the dead" Jay replied "Then cabin by the lake"

"All day thrills and chills marathon" Requiem stated "It isn't even scary"
