"Oh" Kimi mumbled, looking away again.



(I am so sorry it took me so long to post to these but my computer died again. I'm getting a new one, but for now my cousin's letting me use her net book, and its just small and awkward to use.)

"Why didn't we hear about this earlier?" asked Voltaire with some annoyance.

"People were too busy gossiping about you two instead," Adair answered. "I only heard about it when I asked Belle where Caleb was."

"Oh," Voltaire replied. He supposed it wasn't that surprising. Evolutions were becoming more and more common as the big tournament approached. Each one was less and less newsworthy, and Caleb had been due for a while anyway.

(mmhm but my step dad is giving me an oldschool dell with a metal chasis that won't die if jostled. Mom wanted to give me her new one. I should have it by next week if I'm lucky)

Kimi blushed and ducked her head. She didn't like being gossiped about.

Voltaire rubbed her back. "It's alright. At least this way we don't have to fight today."

Kimi nodded. "Yes. At least" She mumbled in agreement

"I mean, not that I don't like fighting, but it's getting to the point where you take any freebies you can get, you know?" Voltaire added. He wanted to stave off evolution as long as he could, preferably forever. He sat down. He supposed it was just as well that he wasn't fighting either way. His mind was still trying to process the whole incoming baby factor.

Kimi sat down next to him and curled into his side.

Adair went outside to give them some privacy.

Voltaire wrapped one around around Kimi. "...I guess it's scarier for the girl, huh?"

"I wouldn't know..." Kimi mumbled. "I just don't like the attention"

"It's like what Mikaela said. They like having something to talk about other than fighting and evolving," Voltaire replied. "...But yeah, it's awkward as hell."

Kimi nuzzled into his shoulder. "I still don't like it."

Voltaire stroked her hair. "It's alright." He yawned, feeling sleepy. Why did he feel so sleepy if he hadn't even done anything today?

"Are you sure?" Kimi asked

"As long as you're okay with it," Voltaire answered. "...Are you?"

"I... I don't know" Kimi mumbled.

"Ah...well..." Voltaire answered, unsure of what to say. "...Are you mad about it?"

"No" Kimi replied simply. "Maybe more... unsure"

"It's kind of a big thing to have happened unplanned," admitted Voltaire.

"Yeah" Kimi mumbled in agreement

Voltaire nuzzled her hair. "It'll be alright."

Ava came in with a bunch of fruit, and noticed the two of them huddled together. "Why so sad? Babies are happy things, right?"

"Not where I'm from" Kimi mumbled.

"Your kind doesn't like reproducing?" Ava asked, confused.

Voltaire was also somewhat puzzled.

"Reproduction is hard for my kind" Kimi replied.

"Should it make you happier that you are reproducing, since it's hard for it to happen?" asked Ava, still confused.

"You mean the childbirth?" asked Voltaire, frowning. He knew it wasn't unusual for a human women to die from it.

"Not... Not necessarily." Kimi replied.
