Rook was sitting behind the counter of his shop "Mr. Fix-it". It was a basic store that specialised in any and all technological repairs, especially outdated ones. It was open till 10 and gave his cell number on the door for emergencies. All in all it was affordable. He sat doing the crossword, waiting for anything to happen.

A tall, thin, pale man with long, blonde hair opened the front door, which greeted him with the typical small-business bell jingle. He was dressed as though he'd just stepped out of the Victorian era... or a bad vampire movie. He glanced around the room at the various bits of technology scattered about the shelves before allowing his eyes to rest on the young man.
"Ah, hello there," he said, taking off his (obligatorily elegant) hat and holding it to his chest. "I was wondering if you could fix something for me."

"If I can't fix it, I'll replace it free of charge" Rook stated cheerfully. He put the crossword down and stood up. "What can I fix for you?" He asked with a grin.

Ajax took an antique watch out of his pocket and gingerly laid it on the table.

"I've had it for years. My father gave it to me. It would mean the world to me if you could repair it."

Rook gently picked up the watch and inspected it. "Yeah. I can fix this in ten minutes if you'd like to wait." Rook smiled softly at Ajax. "I'll be very gentle with it. You can count on it."

"Thank you so much. ...oh!" Ajax gave a soft laugh and smiled in an embarrassed manner. "How rude of me. My name is Ajax." He bowed his head politely.

"Nice to meet you Ajax. I'm Rook." Rook smiled. "I am going to take this to the back room with my tools so I can fix it. Would you like it polished as well?" He asked politely. "Free of charge of course"

"That would be lovely/ Thank you very much." Ajax smiled at the boy. He loved people who were polite. "Do you mind if I take a seat while I wait?"

"Not at all." Rook smiled before moving to the back room. It only took him a few minutes to dismantle the clock and replace the broken gear. It took another few minutes to put the clock back together. He walked back out into the lobby still polishing it. "It now has a lifetime warranty. If it breaks I fix it foe free, because nothing I fix ever breaks again." Rook grinned.

Ajax beamed at him. "Thank you so much, Rook. How much do I owe you?" he asked.

"This one's on me. Its not every day I get to fix a special memory" Rook continued to smile. He carefully held out the watch. "Just come back again sometime. I fix just about everything"

Ajax took the watch back and slipped it back into it's place in his pocket. He was silent for a moment before asking, "Do you know anything about antique cars, by any chance?"

"Yes and no. I know about the engines. I don't know about the bodies and interiors." Rook replied honestly. "You got one that needs fixed?"

Ajax nodded. "Several, actually. They're in perfect condition, aesthetically, but they just won't run."

"Ah. Now this is where the options come in. Do you want to bring them here, or should I go get my tools?" Rook chuckled. "If you want them to run, I can make a house call and work on them all at once."

"Whichever is more convenient to you, Rook. I don't want to impose."

"If you leave me the address I could come tomorrow. I actually have an appointment later this afternoon, but I can close the shop tomorrow to work on your cars." Rook smiled. "That's easier because then we don't have to deal with a tow truck"

"That sounds perfect. Do you have something I can write on?"
When Rook produced a pen and a piece of paper, Ajax jotted down the address. "You can't miss it, I assure you."

"Alright. Is 8 in the morning too early?" Rook asked "That's what time the shop usually opens"

"That's fine," Ajax said, smiling. "I'll definitely be awake, as will most everyone else. And anyone in the house who's still asleep at that hour needs to be woken up anyway, the louts." He chuckled softly, as he had a certain someone in mind when he said that. "Just ring the bell and wait a moment, someone will be down to greet you. You're welcome to eat breakfast with us, as well, for your trouble."

"Oh, no thank you. I eat with my brother before he goes to school." Rook smiled. "So I will see you tomorrow at eight"

"Alright sweetie. Thank you so much!" Ajax said, discreetly slipping a twenty dollar bill onto Rook's desk. If the boy wouldn't let him pay, he was going to tip heavily. "I should hurry home now, before the boys destroy my kitchen again. I'll see you tomorrow." He slipped out the door, the bell jingling again, and headed off down the street with his hair fanning out behind him.

Rook was up bright and early. He showed up at the large cathedral precisely at eight, with his tool box and a backpack full of electrical tools. He rang the bell as he was instructed, before stepping back and adjusting his backpack. A black ball cap hid his spiky red locks.
