Stand by me.

Though Ajax was usually first to the door upon the arrival of a guest, he was otherwise occupied when Rook arrived that morning. He hadn't forgotten about the boy's visit, but he certainly hadn't expected him to be so perfectly on time. He had been in the back room off of the chapel, painting, as was his habit.

So, instead of Ajax, Rook was promptly greeted by a spiky-haired blonde with a tan.

"Yo, bro! You must be Jaxxy's repair kid, rite?"

Rook smiled. "Dude Bro, wassup? I'm totally the guy. I'm gonna fix his vintage rides man." He replied in perfect surfer. God he felt like a nerd. "Where's Jaxxy?" He shifted his bag on his shoulder "Can I come in? My gear's heavy"

Ronnie's eyes widened and a big, goofy grin split his features. Finally, someone who spoke his language!

"Jaxxy's way back in tha chapel, paintin'. Come on in, bro. I'll show you where you can drop yer gear. Yer name's... Rook, rite? I'm Ronnie! S'cool to meet ya!"

"Yea, I'm Rook. S'cool ta meet ya too. Diggin' ya threads by tha by." Rook followed him in cheerfully.

Ronnie led Rook to the dining room and gestured for him to put his things on the large table that took up the majority of the room. "Thanks, bro! Yer pretty cool, I can see why Jaxxy'd wanna hire ya. Yer gonna fix his cars, rite?"

"Dude. When I'm done with his cars, they'll run like a waxed board on the perfect swell, bro. Tech and mechanics is my thing man." Rook chuckled. "Do I wait For Jaxxy here?"

Ronnie gave him an admiring look. Not many people could speak Surfer like that.
"Yeah, bro. Lemme got tell 'im yer here." Without another word, he ran off to get Ajax.

Rook sighed in relief when Ronnie was gone. It was harder than it looked to speak surfer. It was repetitive and somewhat crude and he felt like a complete and total Geek when he spoke it. It was alright though. He wouldn't have to talk much once he got to work on the cars.

A few moments later, Ajax opened the door to the dining room, beaming when he saw Rook. "Ah, there you are. I hope Ronnie wasn't too much trouble. He seems to have taken a liking to you."

"Nah. Its cool" Rook replied "Speaking surfer is just a really geeky thing I do. I'm glad it comes in handy." He smiled. "So lets see those cars, shall we?"

"Yes, of course. Follow me." Ajax put his hand on Rook's shoulder and led him outside. They took a path through the garden, which led out to the six car garage. Ajax hit a button on the side of the building, and all the garage doors slowly rose, revealing all of Ajax's beautiful antique cars.

"..." Rook stared. He was at a loss for words because of all the beauteously shiny cars. "I will do my best for you" He finally stated breathlessly.

Ajax smiled. "Thank you very much, Rook. I'm glad to have hired someone who has such respect for the cars." He placed a gentle hand on the hood of the nearest car. "Be especially careful with this one."

"Of course! I will treat them all as if they were Lappy~" Rook nodded. At Ajax's confused look he went on to explain. "My Laptop computer that I built from scratch. So Is there a story behind this one?" He asked, setting his bag down.

Ajax smiled gently. "Not a story exactly, it's just my favorite. It was the one that started the collection. I'd really like to see it running someday. Do you think you can manage that, Rook? I would really appreciate it."
He was glad to see the boy so eager to get to work. And the fact that he'd built his own laptop from scratch made his credentials all the more impressive. Ajax really felt that he could trust the boy with his precious collection; and the thought of leaving Rook alone with his cars didn't make him nervous in the slightest, surprisingly enough. He looked across the garage at his collection, rows and rows of gleaming black, perfectly polished, completely unblemished cars, and he felt that they were in good hands.
"As part of your payment, would you care to stay for dinner tonight? I promise that we'll keep you entertained until then. I expect that you'll be done for the day well before dinnertime, won't you?"

"Yeah. I should be done before Dinner." Rook replied. "And I thank you very much for the dinner invitation. I look forward to it." He opened his bag and started taking out tools. "I should be done around two, possibly three in the afternoon. Just so long as there aren't any delays"

Ajax smiled kindly and nodded. "Just come right inside when you're finished, no need to knock. I'll send someone to check on you in a little while, to make sure you don't need anything. And thank you again, Rook."

A couple hours later, Ronnie stuck his head into the garage, looking for Rook. It was a pretty hot day, and the garage wasn't particularly well-ventilated, so Ajax had sent Ronnie out there with a big pitcher of lemonade (freshly made, of course). "Yo, bro, Jaxxy said ya'd be thirsty so I got sum 'freshments for ya!" he called.

Rook hadn't heard Ronnie in the slightest. He had grown bored with the silence of work almost as long as he had been working. He had his wireless headphones in his ears, bobbing his head slightly to his music. His hat was turned around backwards to keep his sweaty hair from his face and his shirt was soaked down the back and some on the chest.

He was currently elbow deep in his fourth car. A wrench was tucked in his back pocket and he was softly lip sinking with the song.

Ronnie sat the lemonade on a table and slunk across the garage to where Rook was working. "Yo, bro!" he exclaimed, poking Rook in the ribs.

Rook jumped. His old sneakers slipped in some spilled oil and he started to fall. He knocked the hood off of its prop as he caught himself on the edge of the car and it cam slamming shut. Right on his right hand.

Rook let out a loud yelp. His Hand was caught in the hood and it had taken some heavy damage, if the blood pooling onto the car and down to the floor wasn't enough of an indicator.

His headphones had dislodged at some point during his scare, leaving him free to hear the surfer boy.

"...Ronnie. Please go get a first aid kit..." Rook asked, inhailing sharply every few words as he worked to pry the lid back open without further damaging himself or the car.

"HOSHIT."
Ronnie stared wide-eyed at all the blood coming out of Rook's hand and turned toward the door. "I'mma get Ajax!"
He launched himself across the room and toward the main house as fast as he could go, which was pretty damn fast.
Ajax was in there with a first aid kit within five minutes.

"Oh, Rook! Your poor hand!" Ajax cried in dismay. "Here, let me help you."

Rook winced as he finally got the hood up. "I'm going to need stitches." He informed Ajax. "And probably and x-ray" He pulled his shirt up over his head and off his other arm so he could wrap it around the injury and stem the blood flow until Ajax could properly wrap him for a trip to the hospital. He was surprisingly lean for a nerd, and it looked as though there wasn't a single bit of excess fat on his scrawny body.

"Ronnie." He directed the surfer boy, who had come back with Ajax to make sure Rook was alright. "I need you to go get some milk. Blood is Acidic, so if it gets left on the car it'll ruin the paint job. I need you to clean it off with the milk, which is a base. Can you do that for me?" He asked.

Ronnie gave him a worried look and nodded. "Yeah, bro. I think so."

Ajax bit his lip, looking worried and thoughtful for a moment. "Rook, I'm going to take you to a special doctor. He'll treat you for free."

"You don't have to." Rook winced again. "The 'Sho-ster has me covered. I just need to call him and tell- whoaa" Rook groaned as he wobbled. "I think I'm going to pass out from blood loss." He stated. He did look paler than he normally did, and there was a lot of blood on the floor.

Ajax, with unexpected speed and strength, swept Rook off of his feet and carried him swiftly out to the car. Rook would bleed to death if he tried to take him all the way to the hospital. The boy would probably be very freaked out by what was going to happen, but there was really no other choice. Ajax was going to take him to a healer, and he could only hope he got there in time.
