Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"That was kind of cool" Pheobie grinned. She clambored back over the fence and hurried after Maple, latching onto his arm once she got close enough.

"The world of Pokemon is a fascinating one," said Maple. "In both good and bad ways." Maple mused on this as Goldie ran by. He stopped. Goldie?

"Goldie!" Pheobie scolded, calling the Griffin pup to her. "Bad Goldie. You were supposed to stay on the ship!"

"How did you not stay on the ship?" asked Maple. "I locked everything before I left."

Maple went down to his ship, and soon saw the problem. Apparently griffins could claw through steel too.

"Maple... I'm so sorry" Pheobie stated. "Bad Goldie!" She scolded again.

Goldie whined and obediently laid at Pheobie's feet.

"Why are you apologizing? You're not the one who tore a hole in the ship," Maple answered. "I guess I'll have to have some of the lab guys fix it..."

Some curious people had gathered around, staring at Goldie.

"What kind of Pokemon is that?"

"Wow, that's cool! I want one!"

"Look what it did to ship. It must be strong."

"I have an Espeon I can trade you for it sir."

"It;s not a Pokemon people!" Maple growled.

Pheobie quietly scolded Goldie again. "Bad. When we say stay, you will stay!"

Goldie stayed plastered to the ground, his head down low with sad eyes.

"Hmm...we can't leave him on the ship if he can rip his way out," said Maple, then glanced to all the curious people. "But everyone here will think he's a Pokemon if we take him with us...maybe we can leave him at the lab."

"Maybe. If he'll listen." Pheobie scowled.

"Point," said Maple. "I guess we'll just have to keep him with us for now."

"Do you have a leash?" Pheobie asked

"On board maybe. Though I don't know if it would be griffin-strength," said Maple. He began to activate the door, but then decided to just go through the hole instead.

"Doesn't really matter. He listens when I'm there to enforce." Pheobie stated

Maple spent a few minutes in the storage room, when came back with a olive-green leash. "You know, I don't know why I have this, but it's sure handy now."

"You never know why you have it until it becomes useful" Pheobie smiled.

"Problem is you run out of room for random things after a while," replied Maple, beginning to put on the matching collar. Goldie didn't really like it.

"This is your own fault. You wouldn't have to wear it if you had stayed like a good griffin." Pheobie scolded.

Maple then fastened the leash to the collar. "Here you are," he said, handing the leash to Pheobie.

Pheobie accepted the leash. "Thank you."

"Gonna call the lab people so they can tow the ship in," said Maple, dialing on his GS. "Can't have just anyone walking through that hole, can we?"

"Do you want us to wait outside?" Pheobie asked

"We're already outside silly," replied Maple, before putting on his earbuds and mouthpiece. "Hi, this is Professor Maple. No I am not dead. Anyway, my ship needs some repairs. Might if you can come over and tow it?...Well, see, there's this big hole in it, so...I'll explain later....Anyway, thanks!" He hung up. "They should be here in a few minutes."

"Sorry. I asked out of habit" Pheobie smiled. "So where to after this?"

"To the lab, obviously," Maple replied. "To say hello to old friends."

"Okay." Pheobie smiled. "I like meeting your colleagues."
