Rain Dance

"Can you stand long enough to watch?" Voltaire asked as he walked out of the room with her. "You might have to move pretty quick if an attack goes into the crowd. It doesn't happen as often as you'd think it would, but it does happen. I don't think it would be a good idea right now."

"Alright." Kimi replied with a pout. She snuggled his shoulder.

"Tell you what, you can just stay in the cave room, how about that?" Voltaire offered. "You can start watching the matches and practicing some fire moves once you're better."

"Alright. That sounds better" Kimi smiled.

While going over to the cave room he briefly ran into Mikaela.

"Hey there lover boy," she greeted.

Voltaire snorted out some smoke. "Now don't you start." He unconsciously straightened his back as he continued. Adair, who was following, just shook his head.

Kimi had fallen back asleep on Voltaire's shoulder. This time, however, it was just a light sleep and she would probably wake when he set her down.

After a couple of other random exchanges with some other changelings ("Can't they mind their own damn business?") Voltaire and Adair arrived at their cave room. Voltaire carefully put Kimi down, trying not to wake her.

"By the way, where's Ava?" asked the Hunter.

"You know, I'm not sure," admitted Adair. "Heart market I assume. Or lunch."

Voltaire's stomach growled. "Lunch doesn't sound too bad."

Kimi blinked herself awake. "Taire?" She asked with a small yawn. "Are we back in the room?"

"Yeah," Voltaire replied, hunting for fur blankets. He found them behind some rocks. He brought them over and laid them over her.

"Will you lay with me now?" Kimi asked softly. "I missed being awake to get hugs from you..." She pouted slightly. "I know its selfish, but I missed it"

"Sure," he replied. Voltaire's stomach rumbled again. "Once I eat something." He wandered over to the food stash and got some dried cougar meat. "You want anything?"

"Just some water" Kimi murmured. "I still don't have much of an appetite"

"Alright," Voltaire answered, drawing water from their water jug. He walked back over and sat down. "You need help with this?"

Kimi sat up and carefully took the water. She drank it slowly, until she had her fill. "Thank you" She smiled

"No problem," Voltaire answered, now turning his attention to the meat. He devoured it quickly.

Kimi laid back down to wait for him. She curled up in the blanket happily. "So did you win your match?"

"Yeah," Voltaire replied lazily as he laid down next to her. "Vampires down, Cats next. That's Barret and Curtis."

Kimi snuggled up next to him. "I'm glad you're not hurt" She stated softly.

"Me too," Voltaire replied, stroking her hair. "I'm glad you're feeling better.'

Kimi giggled a little. "Me too." She leaned up and kissed his cheek lightly. "Are you nervous about tomorrow?" She asked

"Not really. We've beat them before," Voltaire answered, kissing back. "Though they can be a royal pain to fight. They're tough."

The Hunter noticed Adair, who seemed a bit embarrassed by all this. "Speaking of royal pains...Go save some damsel or something, Mr. Hero." He lazily tossed his empty water bowl at Adair, falling just short of the Hero. Adair seemed to get the message though and left the cave, mumbling something about being hungry.

Kimi watched Adair leave before looking back to Voltaire. "Why did you make Adair leave?" She asked. "He wasn't bothering me, was he bothering you?"

"We were bothering him," Voltaire answered. "He was just too polite to just say so and leave. He'd save himself a lot of trouble if he was just more honest."

"Oh. How were we bothering him?" Kimi asked.

Voltaire tried to think of the best way to explain. "When two people act all lovey-dovey and kissing a lot, sometimes other people feel embarrassed seeing that. I don't know why that is. I guess it's a human thing. Or maybe it's a Hero thing. They tend to be more uncomfortable with this kind of thing."
