Rain Dance

Negau nodded and walked off without another word.

Inside, Kimi was beginning to wake.

Voltaire continued to sleep, even as Adair walked in again.

"Oh, how are you Kimi?" asked Adair, before pausing. "Um...what was that word he said...leh-froh-mah-tis-ahl?"

"lefromatisal?" Kimi asked sleepily. "I didn't know you spoke Talruch, though that phrase is highly inappropriate for you."

"What did I say?" asked Adair. "...Nevermind. Here."

He walked over and handed her the earring. "Your brother was here to see you earlier."

Kimi's eyes widened. "Big brother was here?" She asked in a whisper.

Adair nodded. "He wasn't able to stay long though. He wanted to check on you and make sure you were okay, and to let you know that h was okay." He decided not to mention Negae's new scars.

Kimi smiled softly. "Thank you Adair. And what you said means 'live well my loved one' but if Neggy said it it makes sense."

Voltaire finally stirred, looking groggy.

"I don't want shots," he mumbled, before fully waking up. "Oh Kimi, you're awake. How are you feeling angel?"

Adair remembered what Negae told him earlier. He and Voltaire were going to have to have an awkward conversation later.

"Much better." Kimi smiled. "I think I can stay awake now. And I'm not shivering"

Voltaire smiled. "Good. You had us kinda worried."

"Kinda?" asked Adair. "We've had to remind you to eat."

"...Shut up."

Some of the other changelings glanced in as they talked. Neither Phoenix noticed.

Kimi frowned. "You should take better care of yourself, Taire." She stated firmly. "What good would it do for you to get sick after all the work I did keeping you from turning into a demon?"

"You've been way sicker than me the past few days," replied Voltaire, before laying his head and arms on the bed again. "Dammit, you've had me so worried."

"I'm sorry" Kimi murmured softly. She scoot over on the narrow cot to make room for him. "Lay with me?" She asked, pleading silently with her eyes.

Voltaire was considering it when he heard some excited and amused murmurings from outside. Both he and Adair turned to see almost every changeling in the tournament peering in. Voltaire's face flushed. How long had they been there?

"All together now," announced Omen, leaning on his faux gentleman cane.

"Awwwwwwwwww," said everyone else in exaggeration. They quickly dispersed with laughter as Voltaire spewed firebreath out the door.

"...Not here," the Hunter said, face still red.

Kimi's face was blushed a deep green. "I don't have to stay in here tonight do I?" She asked, hoping to change the subject. "Its a little creepy when you're alone."

"Not if you're feeling better," said Voltaire. "I don't really like doctors or medical places either. None of them bothered you too much, did they?"

Kimi shook her head. "I just don't like being alone in here."

"Me neither. I only come here when I have to," Voltaire answered. "I don't know anybody who does like coming here."

"You were almost glad to be here when you got your arm broken in that match," said Adair.

"Yeah, but that was a freakin' broken arm," Voltaire growled. "And it hurt like hell getting it healed back up the rest of the day too."

Kimi watched the conversation move between the two of them until she got dizzy and had to lay back down.

"Hey, you okay?" Voltaire asked in concern, quickly forgetting about his conversation with Adair. "If you need us to shut up so you can sleep, let us know."

Kimi shook her head. "I'm okay. Just a little dizzy" she smiled at him softly.

"...Do you feel up to going to our cavern room?" Voltaire asked. "Or do you need to stay here a little longer?" He knew she didn't like it much at the medical wing, but he didn't want to take her out just to rush her back in.

"I want to go back." Kimi smiled. "I'd rather not stay here alone again, besides I feel much better"

"Alright then," Voltaire replied, picking Kimi up. "We might still have to bring you here during our matches though."

Kimi rested her head on his shoulder. "Can't I watch?" She asked soflty. "I don't want to stay by myself"
