Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"Alright" Pheobie smiled.

A couple of Pidgey tried to dive-bomb them. The Pichu gave them a quick zap and they flew off.

It didn't hurt as much since Pheobie was grounded. She grinned. "Aren't you so brave, pichu~" she cooed.

"Chu!" it squeaked happily, hopping up and down on her head.

"Next time you should shock when you're not on Pheobie," Maple advised.

"...Pi?"

"It doesn't hurt" Pheobie stated. "Just tingles a bit"

"Yeah, but he shouldn't be launching attacks from your head," said Maple, as Groovy dealt with some Rattata. "Those shocks will do more than tingle when it becomes a Pikachu. Or a Raichu."

"Oh... Okay! We can train it not to then" Pheobie smiled

"That's the idea," said Maple, before another Pidgey appeared. The Pichu's cheeks began to spark.

"Down first," ordered Maple. The Pichu gave him a confused look before jumping off of Kimi. The brown-and-tan bird immediately hit it with a Tackle attack, sending it sprawling backward. It quickly sprang back up and shocked the Pidgey into submission. Then the little yellow mouse zapped Maple.

"Yow! Hey!"

The Pichu gave him an angry look before turning its face away defiantly.

Pheobie scowled. "No." she scolded. "Don't shock people. No. No. No." She wagged her finger at the small yellow mouse.

The Pichu looked sad at Pheobie's scolding. It clung to her leg and nuzzled it, its ears drooped.

"Now apologize to Maple" Pheobie scolded lightly. "Then I'll pick you back up."

"Pi..." whined the Pichu, looking up to Maple with teary eyes.

"Alright, I forgive you. This time," Maple relented. "As long as you don't turn into a certain Pikachu I know that shocks people because it pleases its Trainer. Though really that's the Trainer's fault."

Pheobie tilted her head. "Who does that?" She asked

"Some guy named Ash," Maple replied. "I've never actually met him, just heard of him. He's a really strong Trainer, with his strongest Pokemon being a Pikachu. Now I've heard the kids good overall, but if he thinks you're bad he won't hesitate letting his Pikachu or other Pokemon attack you. And frankly that's dangerous."

Pheobie frowned. "That sounds like it would hurt"

"If it's a powerful Pokemon it can maim or even kill," Maple snorted. "That's why you don't use Pokemon to attack people, especially powerful Pokemon. The only time you should let a Pokemon attack a person is if that person is trying to kill you. Then they're asking for it."

Pheobie nodded in agreement.

The Pichu attacked any Rattata and Pidgey that came too close. When it was not attacking it was riding along, clinging to Pheobie's pants.

"Now aren't you glad you're not wearing a skirt?" Maple added with some amusement.

"A little." Pheobie admitted. "But it wouldn't have been that bad."

The little Pichu was quickly growing tired, so it climbed up to Pheobie's shoulder and began to nap on her shoulder.

"The little fellas are cute, but you have to be careful using even a young Pokemon," Maple went on, as Groovy took over wild Pokemon duties. "Gary claims he's not as good as Ash, but he understands how to use them much better."

"Who's Gary?" Pheobie asked, keeping a careful eye on Pichu so he didn't fall off her shoulder.

"Oh Gary, he's Professor Oak's grandson," Maple explained. "He's been a big help with glitch researcher. Surprised he wasn't there at the lab today, to be honest. Pup's kinda arrogant, but he's got his heart in the right place, usually. He and that Ash guy grew up together in Pallet Town."

"Oh." Pheobie blinked. "Okay. Maybe he's with his grandpa"

"Maybe. They've had some spats lately, but they're still close," Maple answered.

"Must be nice..." Pheobie muttered sadly.
