Saving Soul

"Oh he does now? I hadn't noticed." Anja stated dryly.

"Not exactly the gentlest of types," Adair agreed, shaking his head. "Anyway, he should understand that and like that just fine. Guess we should get back."

Anja yawned. "Carry me, my hero?"

"Of course," he replied in an overly noble voice, picking her up and starting to go back.

Anja nuzzled into his chest happily. "Love you Addy. No matter how much I tease, you really are my hero."

"Glad you think so," replied Adair, nuzzling her.

(skip ahead when ready)

Anja sighed and leaned against him, closing her eyes. It wasn't long before his heartbeat (or the demonic pulses) lulled her to sleep.

Anja yawned and slowly rubbed the sleep from her eyes.

They were back in the cave room, Adair sound asleep next to her. Neither Voltaire nor Ava were to be seen.

Anja yawned again and scoot closer to Adair. He was warm compared to the cold ground beneath them.

Adair was singing something softly in his sleep, stirring only slightly when Anja drew close to him.

Anja wondered vaguely if she sang in her sleep too. She knew that both the boys did, but she didn't know if she did.

Adair shifted in his sleep, rolling onto his stomach. Fiery strings rose from his back, which quickly morphed into golden wings.

Anja frowned. She tried to focus on the wings but she was still half asleep. "Addy... Wings..." She mumbled

The wings flapped a few times, and then Adair, still asleep, was circling around the room lazily.

Anja watched him a moment before it really sunk in. "ADAIR YOU'RE FLYING!" She yelped, sitting blot straight up.

Adair, not awake, took no notice of Anja's exclamation. Instead he flew about the room for a couple more minutes, eventually settling back down on the ground. The wings burned away, leaving an oblivious redhead.

Anja just continued to gawk at him from where she sat.

Adair's song faded and was replaced by the usual snoring.

Hesitantly, Anja got up and moved to examine him.

He mumbled a little when he was touched, but otherwise Adair seemed fine.

Voltaire came in a minute later and noticed Anja's concern. "What's up? Is he having a nightmare again?"

"He was fucking flying!" Anja stated. "With gold wings and everything!"

(Adair has gold wings. Voltaire has red)

Voltaire stared at her, and then at the sleeping Adair, in disbelief. "Like before?"

"Yes like before!" Anja stated. "And he flew!"

The excited exclamations woke Adair up. He sat up groggily, rubbing at his back.

"What're you two going on about?" he mumbled, still half-asleep.

"You," said Voltaire. "I heard you had a nice flight around the room."

"...Flight?"

"You did! And you scared the piss out of me!" Anja exclaimed with a deep scowl.
