Voltaire soon sank into a deep slumber under her soothing touches.

When he surfaced from sleep the next day he felt hot. Very hot. His head felt like it was stuffed with dense smoke. He sat up anyway, groaning as he did so.

Kimi was sleeping, curled against him again. It seemed that she was reluctant to leave his side.

Voltaire looked down at Kimi, and then plopped back down on the bed again. He couldn't be lying around all day. He had too much to do. But maybe he could wait a few more minutes...

"Do I need a bath in acid?" Voltaire asked dryly. The heat was making him cranky. "Cold water's only going to hurt more."

Voltaire got up and walked around some, partially to show Kimi he would be fine and partially to make sure his legs were still in working order. They felt stiff and sore, but they supported him.

"Okay..." Kimi mumbled, biting her lip. She was back to wearing dresses, the one she was currently in was a deep red color with a low neckline.
