Rain Dance

"He still sleeping?" Voltaire asked, before rolling his eyes. Of course he was still sleeping. He had only passed him five minutes ago. "Yeah, I'll wait."

He knew at least part of what Ava had injected into him via string was pure demonic energy. He wondered how long Ava had been sneaking in shots while they slept under her wing. It made him feel sore and sluggish, and he didn't feel like hiking all the way over to the springs at the moment. He certainly wasn't going to ask anyone to carry him there. Being sick, betrayed and violated was humiliating enough.

"If you'd like I could heat up some water and fill the big tub with it so you don't have to hike to the springs" Dawn offered

Voltaire thought about it. "Sure, go ahead. Just make sure it's really hot."

"Alright" Dawn gave him a sympathetic smile and walked back into the house.

Voltaire soon went back inside as well. He spotted Adair, still slumbering on the couch. He untied the ascot from the statue, crumpled up the now-defunct note, and tied the ascot in the Hero's hair instead. Adair still snoozed on, so Voltaire left snickering.

Kimi was in the kitchen, helping Damon cook lunch.

Voltaire noticed the two of them and wondered if he should tell Kimi first. She would probably take it better than Adair. Then again, that might be a good reason to save her for later.

Kimi saw Voltaire in through the door way and waved to him with a smile.

"Hey," Voltaire greeted, waving and as he walked in. "What's cooking today?"

"Vegetables. From Damon's garden" Kimi chirped

"Cool," Voltaire replied. He was glad it wasn't pork. The pork was good, but he had been eating it all week. Vegetables were a nice change. "What kinds?"

"Peppers, carrots, and some greens" Kimi replied.

"As long as there's no spinach it's fine," Voltaire replied.

"Spinach is wrong for this time of year" Damon stated.

"I like spinach" Kimi remarked

"Never really liked it. Had too much of it when I was little," Voltaire replied, thinking back to the orphanage. The diet was 'healthy' but never terribly varied.

"Oh. Alright then, I won't make any" Kimi smiled

"Oh you could make some. You'd just have to eat it all yourself," Voltaire replied. "Oh well, gonna go check to see if the bath's ready yet."

"I thought you were going to the hot springs?" Kimi asked

"I was, but Ava caught me on the way and lectured me," Voltaire answered. "After that I didn't really feel like going."

"Oh. Okay then" Kimi smiled.

"Well...see ya then," Voltaire answered, leaving the kitchen. If his bath wasn't ready then he would consider napping on one of the chairs.

Dawn was in the bathroom, pouring a bucket of practically boiling water into the large tub. "Hello. One more bucket and I should have enough in there."

"Alright," Voltaire replied. He went to one of the chairs to wait.

Dawn left the room with the bucket and came back a moment later with it refilled. He held the bucket up and blew a stream of fire from his mouth to heat the water from the bottom of the (metal) bucket before pouring it in. "That should be good."

"So you breathe fire too," Voltaire remarked as he got up. "Anyway, thanks."
