"Alright," Voltaire replied, pausing. What would be a good emotion to use for a barrier? Well, self-preservation would be one, he supposed. He thought of keeping his guard up, like something would attack him at any moment. The barrier formed and flickered for a couple seconds.

Voltaire nodded, trying to concentrate more. Pride he had plenty of.

While he was busy trying to focus an apple fell on his head. In surprise he sent a burst of unknown energy upward, wrecking the tree branch above.

Voltaire gave a grunt of annoyance as the barrier faded again. Why couldn't he get it to stay? Dammit, he'd get it yet...

Voltaire stopped to catch his breath. He was still annoyed that he couldn't get the barrier to last more than ten seconds. "...Yeah, guess so."

Voltaire paused. He wanted to figure it out himself, but he didn't want to be rude to Kimi either. "Well...I guess. How do you keep the barrier up so long?"
