Rain Dance

"Solar powered" Dawn reminded him

"Yeah, I know," Voltaire replied as he walked into the bathroom, closing the door behind him. He checked the water and found it perfectly hot.

"Need anything else?" Dawn called through the door

"Nah, I'm good," Voltaire called back. He stripped and then slipped into the bathtub. It felt good on his slightly achy muscles.

"Alright, yell if you need anything" Dawn stated before moving away from the door.

Voltaire leaned back and tried to relax. He checked his arms, but there were no marks from the injections from Ava. He wondered how long she had been doing that without them knowing. He thought about his dreams of being pierced by a thousand needles. It seemed those dreams weren't just about nervousness about shots after all.

As dawn passed through the living room, he snickered at Adair with his 'bow'.

There was no reason for him to be upset at this point, Voltaire knew. His evolution was all but confirmed, and anyone with common sense knew that those who allied with demons often became them. So why did it bother him so much? He supposed it had to do more with Adair than him. This had been their only shot to restoring him, and it was going to turn him into a demon instead. He knew better, but he had no choice. Adair was going to be devastated.

The story of my life, Voltaire thought grimly. No matter what I do, it gets screwed up.

Meanwhile, Adair rolled off the couch and awoke with a yelp and a thud.

Dawn snorted loudly from the doorway. "Mornin, sleeping beauty."

Adair grunted in reply, getting to his feet. He was unaware of the bow in his hair as he walked over to the kitchen.

"Love to new look by the way" Dawn snickered

"Huh?" asked Adair, before he caught his reflection in the window. In annoyance he untied the ascot and put it around his neck proper. "Taire feeling better I'm guessing?"

"No." Dawn replied. "But I assume you'll find out why soon enough. He's in the bath right now."

Adair frowned. He expected Voltaire to still be feeling ill, considering the ceremony the day before, but the way Dawn said it made him nervous. Had something gone wrong?

"What?" Dawn asked. "You expected him to be up dancing?"

"No," Adair replied. "Is he worse?"

"No. He's fine. Physically anyway." Dawn replied. "You'll just have to wait till he's done"

Adair frowned again and skulked into the kitchen where Damon and Kimi were.

Kimi smiled at him. "Good morning"

"Morning," replied Adair, peering over to see what was being cooked. "So, uh, how's Taire?"

"Tired" Kimi replied "He's taking a bath."

"Yeah, I heard," Adair replied. "Just tired?"

"As far as I know" Kimi stated

"Oh, uh, okay," Adair answered awkwardly. He assumed Kimi would know more and would possibly tell him about it, but he was wrong. "So, what about you? You okay?"

"Weaker." Kimi replied. "heal a little bit slower. But I'm alright."
