Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"Well first I'm going to eat," Maple insisted, stubbornly taking another bite of his meal. "Can't fight or do much useful if I'm trying to eat a chili dog at the same time. You sure you don't want the other one?"

"I'm not hungry, but I can try" Pheobie stated. "Do you want me to eat it?"

"I'd feel like a pig. Oink, Oink," answered Maple. "You know what those are?"

"Yes. Bacon." Pheobie smiled. "Which is yummy."

"Indeed it is," agreed Maple, handing her the extra chili dog and beginning to walk along. "Ah, there's something that would appreciate some bacon."

Nearby was an enclosure with a couple wolves in it. Most of them were sleeping.

Pheobie smiled. "They look like dogs." She giggled

"All dogs descended from wolves," explained Maple. "Even little Rolly is related to them. However, that doesn't mean they're friendly like dogs. They would probably prefer to have you for lunch instead of play fetch."

"Hm. Good to know. They're still pretty though" Pheobie smiled

Maple ambled on to the next exhibit, which featured some deer-like animals with mauve fur and purple horns. "Hmm, those are new."

Pheobie followed him, slowly eating her chilidog. "Wha' are 'ey?" she asked around a bite of food. " 'ey're pre'ey 'oo"

"Dunno. Let's see..." said Maple, taking another bite out of his chili dog while he read the sign. "Black-striped antelopes...native to some country I can't pronounce...well, they do have black stripes, but I would have called them pink antelopes or purple-horned antelopes. But that's just me."

Pheobie giggled. "Maybe there are blue striped ones too so they're named by the stripe color" She stated after she swallowed.

"Perhaps so," answered Maple, watching the strange animals graze. One of them shot its head up, staring at Maple. Then suddenly it bolted off, going behind a large rock. "They don't like me apparently."

"maybe something just spooked it?" Pheobie tried. She hoped he thought so too.

"I don't care if it likes me or not. It's all its own business," answered Maple haughtily, sticking his tongue out at the antelopes. They kept on grazing.

Pheobie smiled. "You're silly." she giggled. She finished off her hotdog and looked around.

Maple had already finished his chili dog and was looking for a trash can to throw the wrapper in. He had just spotted one when he heard some surprised yells.

"Eh?"

He soon saw the problem: the griffin cub from before was ambling about, investigating the hot dog stand. The cranky hot dog man had fled, not possessive enough of his goods to challenge a baby monster over them. Playfully the griffin pup knocked over the stand and feasted on the hot dogs.

"Oh, it got out" Pheobie blinked. "Shouldn't someone put it back?" She asked, looking up at Maple.

"That is what is usually done," said Maple, looking around at all the panicked people fleeing. Where were all the security people anyway? The griffin pen was far from here. The griffin pup batted at the fallen hot dog stand with its strong paws, trying to get out more food. "Little guy's hungry. Must not be feeding it enough."

Then he noticed some monkeys scurrying by their feet, followed by some odd turquoise rabbits. A couple of parrots flew overhead.

"...What is this, a mass jailbreak?"

Pheobie frowned. "Should we do something?" She asked. "There must be something wrong if all the animals are getting loose."

Maple debated if they should just leave or try to corral the animals somehow. He scanned the area with his GS. No sign of corruption.

He noticed some of the carnivorous giraffes from earlier. There was a good chance far deadlier predators were out too. That's why everyone else was evacuating: not in fear of loose rabbits, but of loose leopards.

"I think we should get going, dear," said Maple.

"But what about the animals?" Pheobie asked "If the other animals are getting out too, some of the smaller animals could be in danger too, like the babies"

As if to prove the point, some of the foxes raced by, being chased by coyotes.

"...Change of plan then!" Maple announced, activating 2X speed on his GS. He shot over and scooped up the foxes before they could get caught and eaten.

"We've got to get them back to their cages!" Pheobie announced. Instead of fumbling with her GS she strode over to the baby griffin. "Hey there" She cooed "Remember me?" She held out her hand non threateningly.

(Is there some sort of code on the GS that stops time at all? Or like a way to glitch it so that gs users are so fast that its like time is stopped? I kinda wanted pheobie to do one of those accidental super move things. You know, wneh you mash buttions on your game controller and accidentally activate the supermove and then have no idea how to do it again? Like that)

(yeah the GS can mess with time, resetting events and such things. It's risky b/c of all the possible consequences and glitches, but it can be done)

Maple was about to yell over to be more careful when the foxes he was carrying bit him. He let out a yelp and dropped them, and they ran off after some of the purple groundhogs. After narrowly avoiding a collision with a kangaroo he soon spotted a purple-striped tiger on the prowl.

"HiI'mNotLunch," Maple said to the tiger, his words sped up and his voice high like a chipmunk's. This was the only thing he did not like about 2X Speed. "TakeThis!"

He activated 2X slow on the tiger, and its steps suddenly became sluggish. The feline let a low-pitched growl in confusion.
