Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

Pheobie wrapped her arms around his neck again and rested her head under his chin. "You're so cuddly Maple" She smiled.

(Yes. She is flirting with him. She's a cuddler XP)

"And you're nice and warm," Maple answered, wrapping his arms around her. "And nice. And happy. And lovely. And I sound like some lovesick fool. Am I?"

"I dunno." Pheobie mumbled. "I've never been close enough to a lovesick fool to know what they sound like"

"Oh, they spout praise and bad poetry to the ones they love," Maple answered. "Like 'Your eyes are like diamonds, your lips are like rubies, your hair is like the eternal night sky'. That kind of thing. Oh, and they generally act stupid like walking into poles when looking at their loved one. Though I do that on a regular basis, so that wouldn't be a good indicator for me."

Pheobie giggled. "You spout nonsense all the time too" She pointed out. "So what's a good indicator for you? Hmmm?" She snuggled against him more.

"Mmm..." Maple mused. "I dunno. I've never been in love before. I mean, there are crushes and then there are those damn she's hot moments, but I don't think I've ever seriously been in love before. It's like asking a caterpillar what's it like to fly like a butterfly."

Pheobie frowned. "You're in love?" She asked softly. She hadn't realized quite where this conversation had been going.

"I don't know," Maple half-whined, letting his hands fall away as he looked up to the ceiling. "I've never been in love before, so I don't know if I'm in love now. I gave you the typical stereotype of a lovesick person, but really each person gets lovesick in their own way. So it's hard to judge."

Pheobie smiled slightly. "Well, I think I'm in love too. Maybe you know him." She teased lightly. "He's smart. Handsome. Tall. travels alot. And he's really funny. Do you know his name?"

"Doctor Who," Maple ventured, though he knew the real answer. "Unfortunately he's too busy fighting zombies in another dimension to be taking dates at the moment. Will I do instead?"

Pheobie giggled. "You'll do fine. But if doctor who comes back, you've got your work cut out for you" she teased.

"Fine. I'll turn him into a monkey when he comes," Maple replied. "Won't that be a shame?"

"Maybe. But then you'd have me a~ll to yourself" Pheobie smiled.

"Well that would be the idea," Maple replied with a smirk, rustling her hair. "Though I suppose we could keep the monkey as a pet."

"Well you have me all to yourself now" Pheobie pointed out. "What cha gunna do about it? Hmm?"

Maple mused. "Let's see..."

Goldie came in, happily carrying an empty pan up to them. It smelled of cookies.

"...I think we lost our cake."

"Eh." Pheobie shrugged. "I'll make another one"

"Fair enough," Maple answered. "I think I'll join you. Partially to learn how to make it and partially to guard it."

Seeing he was getting no attention, Goldie dropped the pan on the floor with a loud clang. After still no attention, he began playfully scooting the pan around on the floor with his big beak.

(my dog does that with water dishes lol)

Pheobie smiled. "Okay. But we don't have a lot of chocolate chips left" she informed him. "Unless you want a different type of cookie this time"

"I still want chocolate chip," Maple informed her. "I'll just pick up more later when we go out."

"Then I'll wait to make it until then." Pheobie smiled. She snuggled into his chest. "So, what were you going to say before?"

"...What were we taking about again?" asked Maple, trying to think back. "Ah, yes. What to do with you? Hmm...We could dance. What dances do you know?"

"I don't know how to dance" Pheobie stated. "I've never had to learn"

"Neither have I!" Maple chirped. "So now we can look stupid together!"

Pheobie giggled. "Alright then. sounds fun"
