Sweet as Sugar

"Sure, if you want," Melly replied. "Although...is it possible to hide your ears and tail? They're both humans, and they've had bad experiences with demons, and they might think you're one."

"Nope." Mu replied simply.

"Hmm..." Melly mused. A lot of people were scared of demons, and for good reason, so it could be an issue. "Maybe you could be in your animals form this time. We'll find you a hat to cover your ears with. The tail you could probably wrapped around your waist under your clothes."

"Too fluffy" Mu replied. "I've tried."

"Hmm..." Melly replied. "Maybe you could wrap a scarf around your tail to keep it from being so fluffy?"

"Tried that. Still doesn't work." Mu replied.

"Uuuh...I don't know then," Melly admitted. "I guess you can always say it's part of a costume or something. Though I don't know how to explain why you were that costume all the time..."

"Maybe. Or you can just say I was in a cirque" Mu suggested

"I guess that could work. Like you're advertising for it. Yeah!" Melly answered. "You're all dressed up so you can perform on the streets and stuff. That should work."

"Okay" Mu smiled.

They had finally made their way out of the forest and onto the main road. All around them were plains, with the occasionally tree jutting out in the distance.

"Let's see..." Melly mumbled. She focused on a particular heart piece and followed its pull. "This way!" she said, pointing to the left.

"Alright" Mu smiled. He adjusted his course to suit her.

"By the way, are there any places you want to visit?" Melly asked. "You know, either places you like or places you're curious about?"

"Nope. I'll go wherever you want to go" Mu grinned

"Alright then. On we go!" said Melly, marching ahead.

(fast-forward to Redwood town, unless there's anything else you want to do beforehand)

Mu walked into town, still cheerful. "I'm kinda hungry. How bout you?"

"Yeah, now that you mention it," answered Melly. She had snacked on some applies along the way, but that had been a while ago. "There's a good bakery a couple blocks down. Want to go there?"

"Sure" Mu changed his route again.

It was a small town, but a busy town. Some people gave questioning looks to Mu's ears and tail. A few people said hello to Melly along the way. They soon reached the bakery.

"Hi Mr. Dane!" she chirped as she and Mu came in.

"Oh, Melly! Long time no see," greeted Mr. Dane, a friendly, if somewhat pudgy, man with short brown hair and beard.

"Hi Melly's friend!" Mu chirped.

"Oh, who's your friend?" asked Mr. Dane, before his look became slightly more questioning. "...And why does he have a tail and fuzzy ears?"

"He's a circus performer," Melly replied smoothly. "He performs everywhere he goes, so he's always in costume."

"Oh! Is that so?" Mr. Dane answered, laughing. "You know some of the most interesting people. Can I see a trick or two?"

"If you feed us," replied Melly. "I'll have a cinnamon bun. What do you want Mu?"

"Hmmmmmmm. Surprise me with something sweet!" Mu smiled. He set Melly down. "What kind of trick would you like to see? I specialize in acrobatics."

Mr. Dane began to make a huge chocolate-filled pastry for Mu. "Can you do flips, somersaults, hand-stands, things like that?"

"Sure" Mu smiled. He stepped to the middle of the shop, away from all the shelves and did a flip in place. Then he flipped to the side, then he half flipped back and landed, perfectly balanced on a single hand. "How's this?" He asked, putting his other hand down then picking the hand that he landed on up.

"Wonderful! Wonderful!" Mr. Dane cheered, clapping. "You can probably make some good money around here. People like the theater and its acts."
