Sweet as Sugar

Mu's eyes picked up the subtle glint of a knife in the dark. He slipped back into the brush, out of sight. now that he knew where his target was, he could sneak up from behind.

The thief couldn't see him now, which made him uneasy. He kept his ears alert for any sound, the only hint in the darkness.

Mu stalked around to a clear spot on the ground behind the tree the thief was in. Crouching on all fours, he changed into his third form, his animal form. He was a lean red panda now, with fangs and sharp retractable claws. His vision was much clearer and he could easily see his target now. He climbed a tree right next to his prey, the sounds of the night covering the scraping of his claws. he hid deftly in the foliage again.

The thief grew more edgy. It was too damn quiet, except for those stupid buzzing insects. He knew the furry couldn't be far. He glanced behind him but saw nothing.

Mu climbed higher in the tree and jumped over to a higher branch in the thief's tree. He only made a slight rustling that could have been the wind as he slipped into the leaves.

The thief was jumping at every sound, and he jumped at that too. He threw a knife at something in a nearby tree. A squirrel let out a shriek as it was stabbed through. It wasn't his target, but it made him feel a little better.

Mu let out a deep threatening growl. It echoed off the trees, masking his true position right above the thief and making it seem as though he was all around the thief. He crouched, ready to pounce.

The thief tensed up as the rumble echoed all around him. He couldn't tell where it was coming from. But he could tell it was mad. Possibly planning to eat him. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. The furry kid and the girl seemed stupid enough at the time, but...

Mu lept from the branch with a loud call. His claws were outstretched as he aimed right for the thief's head.

"Shit!" the thief cried out, barely averting the blow. His arm was bloody from the last-minute block.

Mu was deflected onto the branch. All the fur on his back was on end as he dug his claws in to stop himself from being knocked clear off the branch. He growled as he advanced slowly.

The thief backed into the trunk, knife poised. What kind of animal was this? He hadn't seen anything like it. It was like a big red raccoon with a white face.

Mu growled again and dashed forward, jumping off to the side, to the trunk of another tree and clawed his way up into the darkness.

The thief stayed in place, trying to figure out where he went. This was the last of his knives. He didn't want to throw it and be left defenseless.

In the darkness, Mu made his way back into the thief's tree. He slowly clawed his way down headfirst until he was about ten feet above the thief's head then he dropped, claws outstretched.

The thief cried out as the strange animal fell upon him, falling over and nearly off the branch. He slashed wildly with his knife.
