Sweet as Sugar

"Yeah," Melly admitted. "Whenever I try to draw myself it always looks funny to me. I can't even say what it is. It's just whenever I try to do it and I compare it to my reflection I just laugh."

"Maybe that's because Melly's to perfect to be drawn. You're to pretty" Mu smiled

Melly blushed. "No, that's not it. Oh, someone explained this to me a while back, what was it...something about our perceptions and it being too close to us or something."

"Oh... Well I still think Its cause you're super pretty." Mu smiled

"Super silly maybe," Melly answered, hiding herself behind a doodle of a clown face. "I can't take myself very seriously."

"Why not?" Mu asked.

"Because people who take themselves too seriously get depressed, that's why," Melly answered, peeking from behind the picture. "Life's more fun if you don't take it so seriously."

Mu smiled. "Oh. That makes sense!" He chirped

"Well yeah," Melly replied, bopping him on the head with the piece of paper. "You don't act real serious when you're performing, right? At least not on the outside."

"I'm never really serious acting. That's summer's job." Mu replied.

"Uh-huh, because your job is to bring smiles to people faces," Melly responded. "My job kind of like that too. I work on trying to make people feel happy and better about themselves."

Mu smiled. "I didn't know that about your job" he chirped

"Well, maybe job isn't the right word for it," admitted Melly. "My job is to produce art. My...calling is to help people who are unhappy and make them feel better. So I have to be cheerful to do that."

"Ooooooooooooooooooooh" Mu smiled. "My calling is to make people smile."

"Glad we are in agreement then," Melly replied. "Hey, do you want to go get something to eat?"

"Sure" Mu smiled. He grabbed his shirt and slipped it back on, not bothering to clasp it.

"Alright then, let's go," Melly replied, putting her beret back on and heading out. "We'll be going to an Italian restaurant I know. That okay?"

"itallian? What's that?" Mu asked

"Food that's like what they have in Italy," Melly explained as they went outside. "You know, pasta and pizza and stuff like that."

"I've never had anything like that before" Mu stated

"Well you're about to find out," Melly chirped. "You need to taste pizza if nothing else."

"Okay!" Mu chirped "If you say so"

Melly paused to better study Mu's wall painting. It was crude, but it was full of spirit. She blushed a little and moved onto the main street.

Mu followed her, trying to clasp his shirt still.

"Should be just to the right here," said Melly, taking a turn. "Ah, here it is!"
