Sweet as Sugar

Melly looked around to make sure it was safe. "...Mu, there are thieves out there. They're going to try to take our stuff."

"Melly, don't worry" Mu smiled slightly. "Leave everything to me." He stated before leaving the tent again.

Melly blinked as Mu left. She expected him t make more of a deal out of it. She hoped he was taking this seriously. She laid down, but doubted she could sleep.

Mu came back a short while later and crawled in with her. He laid down behind her and wrapped his arms around her, cuddling close so they were spooning. He had set up some things outside to make noise if something or someone got too close to their camp. He nuzzled Melly's neck slightly. "Go to sleep Melly." He purred softly

Melly nuzzled his chest, but doubted she was going to sleep anytime soon.

(spooning is when one's chest is against the other's back and they're laying so close that its like they're one thing. usually the one behind has their arms around the one in front.)

Mu purred and began to hum a little ditty for her.

(oh that lol)

Despite herself Melly started to relax some, enjoying the cute little melody.

Mu purred when the melody was done and nuzzled her before gently kissing her cheek. "Go to sleep Melly"

"Mmm," she hummed back sleepily. She eventually drifted off.

Mu purred softly, holding her close and wrapping his tail lightly around her waist. He wouldn't let anyone hurt his special.

Melly slept on. So far the night was quiet.

Mu remained awake. He was used to it. Sometimes they would have shows all night long and he would have to go days without sleep.

There was a sudden rattling, and then another. Melly startled awake, curling up in alarm.

Mu's grip on her tightened slightly. "I'll be back." He cooed to her, kissing her cheek. He slipped out of the tent and up the nearby tree to lurk in the dark.

Melly stayed where she was, feeling anxious and helpless. She wasn't a fighter by any means.

Mu waited in his tree. The alarms he rigged were accurate. No animal would set them off, so it had to be the one who cornered Melly. He wouldn't allow any one to hurt his Melly.

A lean shadow shifted below, carefully. It was going quietly until it tripped another of the noise traps.

Mu smirked slighlty, proud of himself, before jumping from the tree to land squarely on the shadow's shoulders, bringing it to the ground.

"Urf!" cried the shadow, not expecting the pounce.

Using swiftness developed from years of acrobatics, Mu twisted an arm up and behind the man's head at an angle that ment dislocation if he tried to struggle. "Is this a little mouse I have caught in my trap? Red Pandas love sweet little mice." He hissed venomously.

(Red Pandas eat mainly bamboo, but is omnivorous and may also eat eggs, birds, insects, and small mammals. It is a solitary animal, mainly active from dusk to dawn, and is largely sedentary during the day. Just to let you know.)

(I see)

The thief only whimpered and shivered in response.

"You like rats too, ya furry?" asked a different voice somewhere behind. "Cause we rats like furries. We eat 'em up and hang the furry bits on our dens."

"You're not a rat." Mu purred dangerously, dislocating the one's arm before turning. "I know the sound of a snake when I hear one"

"Meh. Suppose I could be a snake too," the voice mused.

A knife was thrown out of the darkness.

Mu evaded it simply by leaning back into a bridge position. He straightened easily, his eyes searching for his target. His night vision wasn't as good as an actual red panda but they sufficed.

The other thief was in a tree nearby, waiting for another shot. He had fought with half-animal creatures before, but this one seemed oddly flexible for his kind. He wasn't sure what to make of that.
