Saving Soul

(More Adair's problem than Voltaire's. Voltaire's more lean muscle than pure muscle.)

Adair watched in amazement and in vague concern. Do not piss off Anja, ever.

"...Then why are you being such a whiny bitch?" Voltaire growled. "Can't do anything bullshit. I don't wanna hear it."

(I ment that she can't fight Heroes off because they are such large masses of muscle)

"What the Hell did I do to you?" Anja growled. "I never did anything to you! You've been nasty and putting me down since I met you!" She ground his face into the dirt. "I'm barely off my deathbed and here you are, being back to your mean and nasty self!"

(oh.)

"...Whatever. I honestly prefer this to the emo you any day," Voltaire grumbled into the dirt. "We don't need someone sitting around feeling sorry for themselves. We need somebody who can fight."

(hence why she's had so many problems with heroes)

"I can fight" Anja growled in response. "And I do not feel sorry for myself! But you're about to feel sorry for yourself!"

"That wasn't what you were saying a second ago," said Voltaire, before switching over to a high-pitched voice. "Oh, I should be dead but I'm not. Whatever will I do? I'm so useless."

Anja lifted his head and slammed it down into the earth. She thought she heard a crunch. "I Said I felt useless. That is because I don't know what to do now that I'm a criminal. You two seem to know what you're doing and that makes me feel like I'm useless. And I should be dead. That makes me feel off with my life. Because I had a sword run through me and should be buried six fucking feet under!!!"

"That's enough!" shouted Adair, pulling Anja off of Voltaire.

The Hunter got up and sulked over to Ava, wiping his bloody nose with the back of his hand.

Anja struggled. "Let me go!" She snarled. "I'll fucking teach him respect!"

(I think Anja might be bipolar.)

(Yeah, I'm starting to suspect that too)

"Listen to me!" Adair shouted, turning Anja around roughly. "We didn't go through all this for an ego trip! We came back to get you because we cared! Because we didn't want you to die! We didn't know if we could even do that after you got stabbed. I...I couldn't..."

He started to sway slightly as his eyes dulled, small spurts of black-and-white flame riding his every other breath.

Anja slapped him. Then, she jerked him roughly down to her level and kissed him. When she pulled away, her glare was softer. "I care about you too. And I'm glad you saved me." She stated before striding past him to the tree line.

Adair sat there in a daze. At least he stopped breathing the bright-dark flames.

Voltaire debated going after her. Considering his most recent encounters with her he decided against it.

Anja plopped down at the base of the tree and crossed her arms, facing away from the men. She was still pissed. She blew out a thick burst of flame before she even realized it. Hey, it made her feel better though, and nothing caught fire.

Adair came out of his daze and wondered if he should join Anja. She seemed to be pissed though. He had already seen what she did to Voltaire when she was pissed.

Anja wondered if Voltaire learned his lesson... Probably not. She doubted Adair would let her kill the phoenix in hos sleep though.

After a while Adair decided to get up and join Anja, hoping she had cooled down a little.

Curtis, who had been watching the commotion in the darkness of the cave, walked outside and over to Voltaire. Ava was blowing white flame over the Hunter's face.

"You sure know how to piss people off sometimes," remarked the zombie.

Voltaire had to wait for the healing to finish before he could reply.

"Feeling better?" Anja asked, without looking at him.

"Yeah," Adair answered. "Are you?"

"I was trying to piss her off," Voltaire grumbled. "Because I was sick of the funk she was in. It's bad enough when Adair's like that. I figured once she got some spark back she'd be in a better mood. I didn't expect her to go psycho bitch on me."

"...I don't know if I should commend you for your bravery or stupidity," Curtis commented.

"No." Anja stated "I'm even more frustrated. Only now, I want to kill Voltaire too."

"Weren't you the one who said that wouldn't be a good idea?" Adair remarked lazily. "Try not to take it personally. He tends to be like that with a lot of people. Even me."

Anja grunted. "Whatever."

(if he doesn't try and start something she will.)

"Taire will be Taire. He should make good target practice for fire-breathing later," Adair added with some amusement. He sat down next to Anja.

"Fire nothing. When I get my hands on a decent set of throwing knives..." Anja let her sentence hang.

Adair sighed. He had hoped he could divert Anja's revenge to something that would annoy but not seriously hurt Voltaire. Apparently that wasn't going to work.

"Let me deal with 'Taire," he suggested, leaning against her slightly. "I've dealt with him for years."

"That all depends on his actions in the next few days." Anja stated. "If he keeps his distance, then you can go for it. If not, his ass is grass"

"Right," Adair answered lazily, knowing there was no point in arguing further. It was very hard to seriously injure, much less kill, a phoenix or phoenix changeling. Voltaire would be fine, even if she did throw knives at him.
