Rain Dance

Kimi climbed up after him, already growing used to the transition.

Ava took off and flew over to the gym area. It took less than a couple of minutes.

"Here we are!" she chirped.

Kimi slid off first. "Thank you Ava." She was glad that the gym was nearly empty this time of day because she slipped and fell on her bottom.

Voltaire snickered despite himself. Soon he got what he deserved, as he slipped and fell hard on his rear himself.

Now Adair was the one laughing.

Kimi gave a small giggle. "Are you alright?" she asked getting up and dusting herself off.

"Yeah," Voltaire replied with some annoyance, getting up. "Be careful going down, o merry Hero."

Unlike them, Adair had no problem getting down. Voltaire just snorted and went toward one of the punching bags.

Kimi skipped after him. "Don't be mad Taire, I didn't laugh at you."

"I'm not mad at you either. More mad at myself for being clumsy than anything," Voltaire replied, as he began to beat the crap of the target sack. "Whatever. Helps with training."

"Please try to be careful though" Kimi murmured before turning back to Adair. "I'm ready"

Adair blinked. "Huh?"

"You're her instructor for the day," explained Voltaire, still whaling on the sack. "Go teach her stuff."

Kimi smiled and nodded. "For my close combat skills."

"Oh. Uh, okay," Adair replied. "Well, first go over there and attack one of the punching bags so I know where your fighting skills are at."

"okay" Kimi smiled. She moved over to the punching bags and started to attack it just as Voltaire had instructed.

Adair watched her assault. "Not bad. I suspect what we really to work on is guarding and evading."

"Defense?" Kimi asked

"Yeah. What Taire's lousy at," Adair replied.

"I hear that!" called the Hunter.

"Good!" Adair answered back. "Now try to work on it for once!"

"Okay, what do I do?" Kimi asked

"Well, you should evade over guard, obviously," Adair began. "It's better to take no blow at all than a cushioned blow. If you can keep it up you can wear your opponent down without landing a single hit yourself."

"okay. Evade when possible guard when not. Right?" Kimi asked

"Right," Adair replied. He wasn't sure how to demonstrate this. Punching bags weren't any good since they didn't attack. Attacking her, even for practice purposes, would likely set Voltaire off. Having Voltaire attack her would be even more out of the question.

"want to spar then?" Kimi asked. "Since targets can't fight back? we can be careful"

"Well, that's how it's usually done," answered Adair, though he still wasn't sure if it was a good idea here. He knew Kimi was a lot sturdier than she looked, but he didn't want to hurt her on accident. "Uh, how about you attack me and I'll evade and defend?"

"But then I wouldn't be learning" Kimi protested lightly.

"You'll be seeing how it's done. Works better than trying to explain it," Adair replied. "Then later we can switch."

Kimi pouted. "Oh alright." She sighed. "As long as we switch."
