Rain Dance

"Hmm," Voltaire replied. He wondered if he should go to Hell'Ruc someday. He suspected he would have to, or else they would be constantly running from Talmara. "I'll keep that in mind."

"Damon might have one laying around." Dawn mused.

"Could you ask him about that?" replied Voltaire. "I really could use one if that bastard shows up again."

"They're not exactly common" Dawn stated dryly.

"I know that," Voltaire replied with some irritation, before Adair walked in. "Oh, hey Adair."

"Hey," the redhead greeted back. "What are you guys talking about?"

"Oh, overthrowing evil demon kings and stuff," Voltaire replied. "By the way, we're staying here."

"What? Why?"

"Kimi wants to learn some magic from Damon," Voltaire explained. "And judging by the weird-ass thing that happened to me in the last tournament, maybe it's time to take a break."

"I thought you wanted to stay so that we could do the ceremony." Dawn frowned

Adair blinked. "What ceremony?"

"Oh, just some ceremony thing that'll take a week to set-up," Voltaire replied vaguely. "Anyway, go tell Ava that we're staying here, okay?"

"Alright," Adair replied, though he seemed slightly suspicious.

"Well do you expect us to bind them without a ceremony?" Dawn stated with a frown.

"Oh, so it's like a marriage then?" asked Adair.

"...Something like that," Voltaire replied. He supposed it wasn't too far from the truth.

"Okay, I'll let Ava know," said Adair, leaving.

"Kid's not to bright is he?" Dawn asked with a raised brow.

"He's not stupid exactly, just naive," Voltaire replied. "Though it should be fun trying to explain why they can't witness the 'wedding'."

"Demon traditions." Dawn replied. "Blood only."

"Guess that could work," Voltaire replied. "Guess we could say it's a private thing too. Kinda like the consummation of a marriage or something."

"It really is demon tradition that only blood can witness." Dawn stated.

"Well there you go," answered Voltaire. "Ava might have a little trouble understanding it, but Adair should get it just fine. Royal blood and breeding and all."

Dawn nodded. "Though technically you would have to be bound by Talmara, since he is Kimi's father, and Damon, who is her uncle."

"Then the official thing ain't happening," Voltaire replied with some amusement, sticking out his tongue.

"Obviously." Dawn chuckled

(I'm surprised Voltaire didn't catch that tidbit about Damon being her uncle.Its an interesting story)

"Whatever, this is close enough, since we all know her dad's nuts," Voltaire replied.

"Glad it doesn't run in the family." Dawn remarked.

"Agreed," Voltaire replied. "So how did a demon and an angel meet without killing each other on the spot?"

Damon's mate was hurt and Angels are better healers than demons." Dawn stated. "Besides that, most Angels only kill demons to defend themselves. We have no real beef with them. The demons are the ones that want to kill us. Not all demons are like that though."

"I remember Kimi mentioning something like that," Voltaire answered. "What exactly is the deal between angels and demons anyway?"

"Lucifer, the first demon king, made a pact with the angels. His predecessor, Judas, claimed that the angels had broken the pact and tried to kill us all, but we retaliate. He lied because they found they could do powerful magic by using our halos." Dawn explained.

"So it's all about horns and halos," Voltaire grumbled. He glanced just above Dawn's head. "Where's your halo? Isn't it supposed to be right about around there?"
