"Yeah. I can't tell you if Adair screwed up the recipe that bad, or if the book itself was botched," Daniel went on. "If nothing else it's permanent. Curtis's hair has been like that since then. He's managed to forgive Adair at least. The hair's kinda his trademark now...well, was. He's dead now."

"Yeah. We were friends for the longest time," Daniel admitted. "We would often bump into each other on missions and things. He was a good Hunter, knew how to work with others in battle. Saved my butt more times than I care to admit."

Somehow, Ellona ended up cuddled against Daniel when Gregory came back to knock on the door. She didn't stir at all, having finally managed to fall into a deep restful sleep.

Daniel woke up at the knocking, before noticing Ellona. He didn't want to get up, not when they were both so comfortable.

"Yes?"

Ellona sighed and nuzzled him in her sleep.
