Rain Dance

(I suspect it has to do with wanting to protect one self/others very strongly)

"After dinner maybe," said Voltaire, feeling his stomach growl slightly. "...Hey Kimi, what you do want to do after this? After my training's done, I mean."

(You catch on fast! That's all it is is a feeling of protection. You need a really strong one the first time to set it off good, but after you've made it as strong as you could from that first primal need, its easier to do it by a feeling of I want to protect rather than need)

"I want to stay with you" Kimi replied like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Besides that," Voltaire answered, flushing a little. "I mean, we were doing the tournaments, but now both me and Adair are going to evolve anyway so..."

Kimi shrugged. "Whatever you want to do"

"I'm not sure what I want to do now," said Voltaire. "That's the problem."

"Well, what are your options?" Kimi asked

"Well..." Voltaire began, thinking about it. "We could keep going to the tournaments anyway. We could stay here for a while longer. We could just travel and not worry about a destination."

"Don't you have friends at the tournaments?" Kimi asked. "Don't you want to see them?"

Voltaire thought about it. The word 'friend' might have been a stretch in some cases, but he got along with the other changelings. It was a brotherhood of sorts. They had to fight and yet work with each other. Those teams that could not do that were rooted out later on.

"...Yeah, I guess so."

"What do you want to do?" Kimi asked. "Just think on it. Your training isn't over yet."

"Fair enough," said Voltaire. He felt a little annoyed with himself for not having a Plan B on hand. The tournaments had been the sole gamble, figuring that the only other option was getting killed. "Whatever, let's go get something to eat. If you think of anything interesting, let me know."

"Alright" Kimi smiled. "Let's go see what they cooked"

"Alright," Voltaire answered, taking Kimi's hand as they walked back inside.

Kimi smiled and leaned on him slightly.

The meal was simple but effective: potatoes and beans with chicken soup. With his belly full he headed into his room.

Kimi skipped after him. "Don't you want to train more?" she asked

"Nap first, then more training," Voltaire replied, yawning.

"Well, then why don't we go to sleep and train first thing in the morning?" Kimi asked

"Alright," Voltaire replied. He knew he needed more practice, but he was too annoyed with it to practice much more today. Maybe he would think of something in the morning.

Pleased that he was finally going to rest, and possibly accept her help in the morning, Kimi crawled into bed and snuggled down into the covers.

Voltaire closed the door behind him, kicking something in front of the door in case a certain angel decided to barge in. Afterward he burrowed under the covers, spooning behind Kimi.

Kimi made a small noise of contentment, cuddling back into him.

"Angel," he purred, nuzzling her neck.

"Hmmm?" Kimi purred, tilting her head to look up at him sleepily.

"Love you," Voltaire replied, placing some featherlight kisses on her neck.
