Actually hearing John voice the question caused the answer to come spilling from Karkat's mouth in a torrent. "Gog, yes! I lovehate you so much I can hardly stand to even talk to you, but if I didn't talk to you I would be miserable because I would miss your fucking goofy ass way of typing and I was terrified to actually invite you here and I'm so fucking glad you came that I can't fucking contain myself and this is the best day ever. Of all the days, this is the fucking best."

Karkat let out a soft whimper, trying desperately to pull John back to him. "Even if you stopped being my friend, today would still be the best day because I got to spend it with you."

Karkat finally managed to disentangle one of his hands from John's shirt and quickly wrapped his arm around the human boy's shoulders, clinging to him. The Troll buried his face into John's neck, for once unable to say a word.

John carefully moved one of his hands to stroke Karkat's hair soothingly, taking great care to avoid his horns. "Its okay, alright Karkat? I don't think any less of you and I'll never stop being your friend, okay? You don't have to worry about this."

Kaarkat shuddered violently, clinging even tighter to his Human friend. "John, stop it," he whimpered softly. "Isn't it bad enough that I have BlackRom feelings for you, without you making me feel like this, too? It isn't fair to make me love you when I can't have your love in return. It's cruel. It's something Vriska would do."

The road where he admitted that he was so far in the closet, fuck christmas presents, fuck NARNIA, he was against the wood. The only reason he was okay with it now was because Rose dragged it from him kicking and screaming and made him just fucking deal with it like a man.

Karkat nodded wordlessly and buried his face in John's shoulder again, trying to take deep breaths and slow his racing heart. I was right. Out of all the days, this is the best.

Karkat stayed where he was, silent, until his heart had slowed to a reasonable rate and his breathing was even. When he was finally calm he carefully disentangled himself from John and sat up, looking at the bespectacled boy very seriously, as though studying some sort of alien creature.

"Well, John Egbert?" Karkat asked softly. "I am calm now. Are we going to talk about this, or what?"
