Lost In Time (MSPA)

"What I can do is none of your business." Karkat replied in a surprisingly even tone.

"It is if its a trait that gets passed on to our progeny," he said, raiding an eyebrow. "I think I'd like to hear you sing, Karkat."

"No" Karkat replied firmly. "I refuse. There is no way."

"Well why not? Hey, why don't we just 'rewind' this scene and listen to him sing again? You know the words to the songs now, right? Or are you too embarrassed to even sing along?"

Karkat's face flushed lightly. "Whatever" he mumbled. He actually wouldn't mind hearing him sing again. And he did know all the words now.

Dave gestured to the space in front of him. "Well? Are you gonna come over here and help me rewind? I wouldn't want to lose you someplace in the time-space continuum."

Karkat stepped over in front of Dave. This time it was less strange to have Dave direct his hands on the time disks and the feeling of swimming was less uncomfortable.

When they got back to the beginning of the man's set, Dave remained where he was, standing slightly behind Karkat, rather than leaning back against the wall again. He wanted to be as close as physically possible to hear if Karkat were to sing. He had to know what the Troll's singing voice sounded like. He just... He had to.

Karkat crossed his arms again and set in to listen. He didn't really wish to sing, since he knew that Dave was probably waiting for it, but by the third or fourth song, he couldn't help but sing along, though he kept his voice to a murmur.

Dave leaned forward, into Karkat's back, and rested his chin on the Troll's shoulder. It was the closest he could possibly get without getting clawed to pieces by the boy, but he could still barely hear him. "Gog, Karkat, sing louder. I can't even hear you. It's loud enough in here that I'm sure you don't have to worry about showing him up."

Karkat flushed and immediately stopped. "Shut up!" he snapped, embarrassed of his slip.

"Aw, Karkat, I was genuinely enjoying that. Would it make you feel better if I sang, too? I'm not as good as you," he said, leaning even closer to the boy's ear.

"NO!" Karkat hissed, trying to move away. "You're making a scene dammit!"

Dave wrapped his arm around Karkat's waist and pulled him back. "What's wrong? Am I getting a little to close for comfort? Don't tell me you're not into guys. I thought your race didn't even have a word for that," he teased. "Besides, its not as though anyone here knows who we are. We can make as much of a scene as we want."

Karkat growled. "I don't have a problem with it. Just you."

"You obviously don't have too much of a problem with me, if you created life from our combined DNA. Surely you don't do that with just anyone?" he asked, grinning mischievously. "Or maybe you just go around filling pails with everyone and getting everybody's genetic material all mixed up. Either you've got a thing for me, or you're a slut and this is just a chance happening. Which is it, Karkat?"

"I'm warning you strider" Karkat growled "Drop it. I don't have a thing for you and I'm not a slut"

"Really?" he said offhandedly. "That's too bad."

Karkat growled. "Take me back." he stated

"I will not," Dave said with a smirk. "I'm keeping you right here until I'm good and ready to leave. If you've got a problem with that... Well, I guess you'll have to invent a way of getting home, won't you? It would suck if you fucked up the time-space continuum by getting your ass lost in the future. Fuckass."

"Then let me go" Karkat growled "So I can get lost and fuck up this future" He tried to pry Dave's fingers off of him.

Dave easily pushed Karkat up against the wall, not caring that people were staring at them. He pinned the troll's hands and put his lips right up against the boy's pointed ear. "I'm not fucking losing you here, Karkat," he whispered, his voice breathy and intense. "I brought you here because I have a thing for you, and when I saw that kid who's so obviously our kid, I thought maybe I had a chance with you. I guess I was wrong. So I'll drop it, okay? We'll rewind again, have a good time, forget this ever happened, and go home. Okay?"

Karkat inhaled sharply, stiffening and his skin darkening in a blush. "G-get off" he hissed softly, almost shyly. "P-people are looking!"

Dave pulled away with a heavy sigh, adjusting his shades on his face in an attempt to hide his disappointment. "Yeah, whatever. Let's just get out of here."

Karkat hurriedly scampered out the back door and into the alley. He leaned against the wall, his face dark as he struggled to keep his breathing even. He was supposed to be a badass dammit, but why did his heart race when Dave said those things to him?
