This Is Love (MSPA)

"Sounds great, Mr. Egbert!" Dave replied, smirking triumphantly at John. "Me and Bro hardly ever have ice cream."

"Ice cream is better than cake" John stated in a more subdued tone. "I want candy cookie chunk."

"Then get in the car" Mr. Egbert smiled.

"Sounds like a plan to me, Mr. E." Dave gave John a playful shove as he headed for the door. "I'll race you, Johnnie boy."

John smiled and ran after Dave "What kind of ice cream are you going to get?" he asked with a grin.

Mr. Egbert smiled and followed them.

"Me? Vanilla soft serve with fuckin' crunch coat, man. Best shit ever." He let John beat him to the car, then hopped into the backseat beside him. When Mr. Egbert got in the driver's side, Dave flashed him a quick smile. "Kind you gettin', Mr. E? Birthday cake?"

"Chocolate" Mr. Egbert grinned. "Best flavor ever."

Dave slipped an arm casually around John's shoulders and grinned at him. "I like your dad, man. He's a pretty cool guy."

"Keep it PG 13 guys" Mr. Egbert grinned.

John froze up and blushed darkly.

Dave's eyebrows went up and he gave Mr. Egbert a quizzical look in the rearview mirror before smiling and shrugging his shoulders. "Yeah, I was planning on it. ...for tonight, anyway~" he said with a slightly dark chuckle.

John's blush darkened even more. "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad" he whined.

"I want to talk to the two of you later tonight" Mr. Egbert stated.

Dave chuckled and pulled John against his side, nuzzling the boy's hair. "Shh, John," he soothed, meeting Mr. Egbert's eyes in the rearview again. "I figured you would, when you found us out. I just figured it would take a little longer. But I suppose I should have expected as much. But, for now, let's focus on ice cream. Deal?"

"Deal" Mr. Egbert smiled. "Anything else while we're out?"

"Uhm..." Dave murmured thoughtfully. "Well, since you made my absolute favorite food for dinner, I'm going to run on the assumption that John told you to stock up on apple juice. I really can't think of anything else."

"He did. There's about four gallons upstairs under his bed." Mr. Egbert chuckled. "And another six in the cabinets."

"Yeah... I told him to buy in bulk." John blushed.

"I really do fucking love you, dude," Dave said with a laugh, ruffling John's hair. "I will definitely drink all of that before I go home. I might drink more than that, actually. I mean, I can drink a whole gallon in one sitting if I don't have anything else in my stomach."

John giggled and cuddled into Dave's side. "I figured."

"I can always buy more" Mr. Egbert chuckled.

"We'll see," Dave replied. "So, where's this ice cream place at, yo? And what kinda place we talking about? Is it some weird northern franchise, or is it a little privately owned place?"

"Coldstone" Mr. Egbert stated

"Dad likes it better than Graters" John smiled

"Oh, cool. You know, I see those places everywhere, but I've never actually been. Kinda good shit they got, man?"

"The best!!" John chirped.

One ice cream trip and awkward sex talk later, John puled his pajama pants on as the boys got ready for bed. "So how are you not mortified?" he asked, his face still pink.

"Because I got that talk a long time ago, in a considerably more awkward way," Dave laughed. "When it was over, Bro threw a box of condoms at me and said 'Go get 'em, tiger.' So, really, that wasn't so bad. Besides, it means that your dad is at least somewhat okay with us being together, and that's all i really care about."

John smiled. "Yeah. He's pretty great. I'm glad he's okay with us..." He frowned, sitting on the bed. "Does your Bro know about us too?"

"Not officially, no. But I get the feeling he's known how I feel about you for a while now, so I doubt it'll be any surprise to him at all," he said. "...John, I really like your dad. You're really lucky. Bro's really cool and all, but sometimes I really wish I had a dad."

"we can share my dad" John offered with a small smile. "If you want I mean"

Dave blushed a bit and tried to hide it by sliding his shades a little further down his nose. "Just like that? I mean, seriously? Will he... be okay with that?"
