Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"I'm not picking on him. I'm giving constructive criticism," Razekar answered with a smile.

"Well let me give you some constructive criticism then," answered Maple. "Your cooking is worse than mine. You have made people sick with your cooking.

"Yeah, that's why I cook stuff," Falcon answered. His idea of cooking involved hunting down food and roasting it over a fire, but it was effective if they were out in the wild.

"Ouch," Razekar replied, knowing it was true.

"There you go." Pheobie teased. "But I can give you lessons if you want" She offered.

"Raze would probably short out all the electrical stuff," Falcon answered. "That's part of his problem."

"Razekar here has electric powers," Maple explained. "But that means some electrical devices don't work well around him."

"And thunderstorms like me too much," Razekar added with a grimace. He did not like spending stormy evenings evading lightning bolts.

"..." Pheobie tilted her head slightly. "Have you never considered a gas stove?" She asked "Or hand tools?"

"Gas stoves aren't too portable," Razekar explained. "I do have some basic cooking tools, but nobody lets me cook."

"For good reason," Maple remarked.

"Anyway, let's hurry up and eat," Razekar said. "All this talk is food is making me hungry. Someone go get Dal."

"I'll get him," Falcon offered, going downstairs.

"Can I get you guys anything to drink?" Pheobie offered.

"What drinks do you have?" asked Razekar.

"Uh, water and milk and...water," replied Maple. "What? I don't usually keep much because I don't usually have guests."

"What about that huge food cabinet of yours?" asked Razekar. "Don't you have some liquor back there?"

"I did, but all the bottles got broke," explained Maple. "The one food item that didn't survive the previous crash."

Razekar sighed. "Water then. I can't stand milk."

"Milk for me," said Maple.

"There's lemons in the fridge. I can make lemonaide." Pheobie offered

"That sounds better, if you don't mind," Razekar replied.

Falcon came upstairs with Dalios, who seemed to be in a more mellow mood now. Rolly happily bounced behind them.

"Water, milk, or lemonade?" asked Maple to the two boys.

"Milk," said Falcon.

"Water will be fine," answered Dalios.

"Do you like your lemonaide sweet or sour?" Pheobie asked

"Sweet please," answered Razekar.

"You know what, I'll have lemonade too," said Dalios. "Make mine sweet as well."

"Kay~" Pheobie chirped, skipping off to make everyone's drinks.

Everyone else sat down in the chairs and couches in the lounge room.

"You've got things set up nice here," Razekar commented, looking around. "A lot more colorful now."

"Pheobie helped with that," said Maple. "...Though she's not finished yet. I think somewhere down the hall everything goes from green to gray or something like that."

"Sounds like you're coming to depend on her already," said Razekar with a smirk. "She decorates and cooks."

"She wanted to do it," answered Maple. "It wasn't like I forced her."

"All the better then."

"What are you guys talking about?" asked Falcon. He was dense when it came to romance.

It took Pheobie a few minutes, but she made extra sweet lemonaide for Razekar and Dalios. She poured milk for Maple and Falcon. She started back up, bringing them all at once.

"Ah, drinks!" Razekar cheered. "By the way, where are we eating? I don't suppose you've added a dining room recently."

"Nope," replied Maple. "Here should be fine. It's just sandwiches, not cuisine."

"Dining rooms are pointless." Pheobie stated. "They're uni-taskers. Useless for anything else."

"Exactly why I don't have one," Maple answered simply.

Razekar shrugged. "I don't care for them either, but I know some people spazz out if you try to eat in their living room or something."

"Do I strike you as that kind of person?" asked Maple.

"...True."

Pheobie giggled. "Maple, I don't think you're capable of spazzing out over anything."

Everyone except Maple gave her a look.

"He can be plenty spazzy when he wants to be," said Dalios. "He's just not one to spaz over decor much."

"Well he doesn't seem like the type" Pheobie shrugged. She picked up a sandwich and turned to go.

"Where are you going?" asked Maple, hoping Razekar hadn't offended her in some way.

"Hm?" Pheobie turned back. "Oh, to go clean up the kitchen while the mess is still fresh. Unless one of you want to do it." When none of them moved she smiled. "Thought not."

Maple paused, then decided to follow. He could clean dishes at least.

When he walked into the kitchen, Pheobie was already hard at work clearing the counters. "Oh? Why'd you come Maple?" she asked

"It's my ship too. I should put some effort in keeping it clean," answered Maple.
