Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"Not really" Pheobie replied. She followed Maple like Goldie was following her. "Is there any place you want to go?"

Maple paused. "There is one place I'd like to visit as well as check. It's my earliest world. You love animals, so I think you would like it there assuming all hasn't gone to hell already."

"Okay. Let's go there then" Pheobie smiled. "I'm gonna go check on your cookie cake."

"Go ahead," replied Maple, heading for his bedroom. "I'm going to take a nap."

Upon reaching his room he plopped into bed...and promptly broke it. That unfortunate incident reminded him that he needed to turn off the 10X Strength code.

Pheobie heard the crash all the way in the kitchen. She frowned, wondering what it was.

Upon turning off all codes, Maple walked out to find one of the empty guest beds. He glanced into the kitchen where Pheobie was.

"I'm fine!" he announced cheerfully before walking on.

"That crash was you?" Pheobie asked. "I thought maybe Goldie got into something."

"No, it was me," Maple answered. "Make sure you turn off all codes before you go to bed, otherwise-"

He saw Goldie chewing on one of the walls.

"Stop that!" he scolded. "We need this ship in one piece, pup!"

Goldie let out a whistling whine and backed away.

"Goldie, come." Pheobie called. "I'll feed you something until we can get you some proper food"

Goldie trotted over to the kitchen, and then lay at Pheobie's feet. He looked up to her with big sad eyes while covered part of its beak with one of its forepaws.

Maple could smell the cookie cake, and the aroma was mesmerizing. He decided to wait on the couch instead.

Pheobie set the plate of leftover sandwiches on the floor. "There. Eat those for now, goldie" She smiled

Goldie happily devoured the sandwiches, and then licked the plate clean of crumbs.

Meanwhile, Maple fell asleep on the couch, snoring rather loudly.

Pheobie took the cake from the oven and set it on top of the stove to cool. Then she set about filling a big bowl of water for Goldie.

Goldie patiently waited for the water, then contently lapped it up before curling into a ball and falling asleep in the middle of the floor.

Maple slumbered on, snoring as loudly as ever.

Pheobie wandered out of the kitchen and over to Maple. She shook him gently. "Your cake is done"

"Leaf Blade, Gro-" Maple woke with a start, before blinking in confusion. "Huh? Oh cake, right!"

(that give you a hint to where we're going next? lol)

(.... Seriously? Pokemon? lol)

Pheobie smiled at Maple. "Were you having a good dream?" She asked

(Bingo XD. Think about Maple's name and title)

"Yes, actually. I was with an old pet of mine," replied Maple, stretching. "A pet I'll see again soon actually. His name's Groovy. He's a Grovyle. It's a plant-lizard creature."

Maple paused.

"...And we'll get there much faster if I actually set the ship's controls to go there," he stated, marching toward the control room.

"...." Pheobie smiled. "First sign of old age~" She chirped. "You're forgetting things"

More like first sign of corruption getting the better of me Maple thought, but he didn't want to say that. "I'm not even thirty yet. You're not old 'til you're thirty. Though it's only a few years away...but I'm not old yet! Just...kind of old."

He sat down in the control chair and selected the Pokemon world from the list. "There. Now we're actually getting somewhere."

Pheobie leaned on him from behind and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "You're not even that old. Just a few years older than me, and you've seen how lively I am"

"That's what I've been saying. I'm only kind of old," Maple answered, relaxing rather than tensing under her touch. He stayed calm for a few moments more, then his stomach growled. "You said something about cookie cake?"

"Mmhm." Pheobie mumbled. "But now I'm comfortable, and not gonna let you up."

"...Oh," Maple answered, unsure what to do. He was still tired, but he was too hungry to go back to sleep. He decided just to stay there and relax, which he should probably spend more time doing anyway. Corruption and stress were a deadly combo.

After a few minutes of comfortable silence, pheobie spoke up again. "Maple?" She asked, contentment evident in her voice.
