Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"Mmm?" he hummed lazily, opening one eye. He had started to drift off again.

"I like you" Pheobie smiled. "You're the nicest person ever."

"Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not," Maple answered. "Depends on who it is. I'm not nice to people I don't like."

Pheobie let out a small giggle. "So that means you like me?" She asked softly in his ear.

"Yes dear," he replied. He had meant to say it seriously, but her breath tickled his ear and the resulting giggle made it sound more like amusement.

Pheobie's face broke into an amused grin. "Maple, are you... Ticklish?" She asked devilishly, her arms tightening around him ever so slightly so he couldn't get away if he predicted what was coming next.

Uh-oh, thought Maple, for he was in fact ticklish. Answering yes would mean a tickle fest, while answering no would be a lie that may or may not be convincing.

"No comment," he finally replied haughtily, as if he was some kind of snobbish celebrity. He doubted that answer would do much good.

Pheobie giggled. "Really?" She asked, moving one of her arms so that her fingers could lightly brush his side. "Cause I think you are"

Maple giggled despite himself, and then he knew he was doomed.

Pheobies fingers were fast and quite nimble as the practically danced along Maple's skin, tickling mercilessly in a matter of seconds. "I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that" She teased "Are you ticklish Maple? Hmm?"

(Pheobie's very ticklish as well)

Maple burst out into involuntary laughter as he squirmed. "S-Stop that!"

Pheobie grinned. She tickled him faster now. "I didn't hear a please~" She practically sang, moving around to straddle his lap as she tickled. She totally forgot she was wearing a skirt.

Maple continued to laugh, tears brimming on the edges of his eyes.

Finally Pheobie stopped. "Had enough?" She teased, loosely wrapping her arms around his neck. "Hmmm, Mr. ticklish?"

Maple breathed a sigh of relief, his body relaxing again. "Yes, that's enough."

Pheobie giggled. Still feeling playful, she took his glasses and slid them onto her own nose. "How do I look?" She asked playfully, cocking her head.

"Lovely as always," remarked Maple with a lazy smile. "You could look a cardboard box look fashionable."

Pheobie smiled. "So, you want that cookie now?" She asked sweetly.

Maple's stomach growled loudly. "Yes, I think so. I can't concentrate on anything when I'm hungry." He debated about whether he wanted to get up or not.

"M'kay. Then We have to get up and go th the kitchen." Pheobie smiled. "I made the cookie from my own secret recipe so I really hope that you'll like it" she stated, also reluctant to get up.

"You mean I don't get to hear how you make it?" Maple asked with disappointment. "Meh, just as well. I'd probably ruin it." He paused as he continued to gaze into her face. "...Unless I spontaneously develop telekinesis, I need to move to reach the cookie."

"..." Pheobie smirked. "Swivel chair ride?" She suggested.

"Which this is not," Maple pointed out, gesturing to the control chair's firmly-planted base.

Pheobie pouted. "But your lap is comfy" She protested lightly. "Do I have to get up?" She gave him her best pout.

Maple just shrugged. "Do what you want, dear. My opinion isn't that important."
