Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"I dunno. I never listened to much music." Pheobie admitted

"Hmm, that doesn't narrow it down much," said Maple, looking through the CDs. "Let's see, we've got Seether, Foo Fighters, My Chemical Romance, Michael Jackson..."

"I've never heard any of them before" Pheobie admitted

"Could you name some bands or singers you know of?" Maple asked. "I might have some. I bought some CDs there."

"..." Pheobie frowned. "I really don't know any" She mumbled, looking at her feet.

"None at all?" asked Maple, again confused and somewhat appalled by her lack of knowledge on such things. Did she mostly stay inside back at her home world? Judging by how people treated her, it wouldn't be a surprise. "Well, I have Styker Six, Blue Rush, and Fiona Flock from your world. Do any of those sound familiar?"

Pheobie shook her head without looking up. "No..."

"Well, I don't know them either. They were given to me as promos," answered Maple. "I haven't gotten the chance to listen to them yet, so I have no idea what's on them."

"I didn't have a radio, or a tv, so I never knew what was popular or new music. Sometimes I would hear a little bit from car radios but nothing much"

"When then, we'll find out together," said Maple, putting the Fiona Flock CD in and pressing play. After a few moments a high-pitched bubbly voice began singing about boys to a poppy tune. Maple didn't care for it much and cycled through the two remaining tracks on the sample CD, which were also about poppy songs about boys.

Pheobie made a face "That's annoying." She stated.

"Agreed," Maple said, turning it off and taking out the CD. "I have nothing against happy people, but...she's too happy."

"Agreed" Pheobie sighed.

Maple put in the Styker Six CD in next. This one was a rock band. Maple liked it, but he wasn't sure Pheobie would.

Pheobie grimaced and held her ears. "That hurts my ears."

"Not very good for dancing anyway," Maple replied, taking the CD out. Pheobie wouldn't like many of his other CDs then. He put in Blush Rush and got a strange but soothing techno pop.

Pheobie took her hands from her ears. "I think I like this one"

"Yes, I think this should do nicely," replied Maple. "Something slow and easy so we're less likely to trip over ourselves."

Pheobie smiled. "Alright."

"So..." Maple began, before pausing. "How should we do this?" Maybe they should have watched some dance videos or something first. He twirled experimentally on one foot.

"I dunno. Do you know how to dance at all?" Pheobie asked "Cause I don't"

"Not a bit," Maple chirped. "Well, I know with waltzing there's something about leading and one foot in front of the other, but that's it."

He paused.

"...Maybe should just listen to music for now."

"That's fine with me" Pheobie smiled.

Maple plopped down on the couch, listening to the techno song talk about aliens. It was kind of a nice change from the constant love/hate songs.

After only a moment of hesitation, Pheobie sat down next to him.
