Sweet as Sugar

Melly paused when she noticed a squirrel chattering angrily at her. She must have been too close to its home or nest. She watched in with some fascination. She hadn't seen many squirrels before.

(and no it is not pink lol)

"Melly! Is this enough?" Mu asked, his hands full of leaves.

"Yeah, that should be good," Melly answered, tucking away the leaves in the notebook. "Well, that should be everything then. I've got camp near here and that should have all the other supplies we need."

"Okay! Lead the way Melly!" Mu grinned

Melly did lead the way,and arrived at camp just to time to see a trio of monkeys running off with her bags of supplies.

"Hey! Get back here! That's mine!" she shouted, running after them.

Mu blinked and took off after them, much quicker and more nimble than Melly. They soon left Melly behind.

Melly blinked is confusion, then stopped running. Deciding to leave the monkeys to Mu, she inspected her ransacked camp. Luckily the monkeys were only interested in food, and had mostly left her artistic stuff alone.

Mu came back a few minutes later. "Got it!" He replied breathlessly. There were a few scrapes on his arm and face.

Melly noticed the scrapes and cuts before she noticed the bag. "Oh, you got yourself hurt. Hold on, I should have some first aid in -" She paused. "...That bag actually."

She rummaged through until she found her little medical kit and bought out some band-aids. "This should help."

"Its okay" Mu smiled "They're just scrapes. I'll be okay"

Melly put some bandages on them anyway. "Okay, now once I pack up camp we should be ready to go."

"Where're we going?" Mu asked with a smile

"We're going to a place called Redwood Town," Melly explained. "I've often stopped there before, so I know a lot of the people there. Have you ever been there?"

"I don't think so" Mu replied. "But I don't remember names well"

"Have you traveled a lot in the past?" Melly asked as she finished packing up. "Or have you just started traveling recently?"

"The cirque always traveled from place to place." Mu replied. "But I was too little to remember at first."

"What is the cirque exactly?" questioned Melly. "I know they're like your family, but what do they do?"

"Dirvin is the animal trainer. And summer is his assistant. The twins are the adult act and Edwin is the ring-master. Teddy is a fire dancer. Hailen and Kail are Meres. Once i changed, Hao and I got to replace the tightrope act." Mu smiled.

"Oh! So it's like a circus then," Melly chirped. "I haven't seen one of those since forever."

Mu nodded. "Yeah!" He smiled.

Melly began to walk ahead, off to find her way out of the forest and onto one of the main travel paths. She didn't always travel around a lot like this, but sometimes she did.

"What's your act?" asked Melly. "Is it transforming?"

Mu shook his head "Acrobatics" He replied.

"In human or animal form?" Melly went on. She nearly tripped over a root. "I'm sure you're way more graceful than me either way."

"Human." Mu replied. He swept her off her feet and carried her bridal style. "We rarely return to our imp forms once we have our human forms"

"It's cute though," Melly protested, before thinking about it. "...But I guess a human form would be more practical. After all, it lets you talk to people and makes you able to do things like drawing and writing."
