Thunderstorm

"Wonder who was stupid enough to leave the door unlocked?" Mikaela mused.

Ross shrugged. "I don't know...I forget who's in charge of the thing this week."

"Maybe no one's in charge and that's the problem," guessed Mikaela, watching the angry lizard for a moment before drifting to look at something else. The Prince stayed with the lizard.

Ross chuckled. "Usually the team and the coach take care of this place. I took care of him last week."

Mikaela floated over to the pegasus pen. He really was a beautiful horse, especially with his glossy wings, but there was a mean glare to his eyes. "Are all the animals here grumpy?"

Ross chuckled. "No, just the riding animals. Some of the fraternitys take them for joyrides. That would make anyone grumpy."

"I can't blame them then," Mikaela replied. The Pegasus gave a snort and turned away from her.

Ross nodded and sighed. "I'll have to talk to the dean about improving things here for them."

"Sounds like a good idea," said Mikaela. "It's all fun and games until one of them bites someone's head off."

Ross chuckled. "It's not like we keep dragons here."

"Good thing," said Mikaela. "We might take offense."

Ross chuckled. "I mean wyverns...Those things are crazy and violent from what i've heard."

"I hate those things. They attack us all the time when we're flying around," grumbled Mikaela.

Ross nodded. "Yeah, they're mean. There's a guy though that travels with a cirque and can tame the damned things."

"How's he do that?" Mikaela asked. "Give them lots of meat or something?"

Ross shrugged. "I have no idea. I haven't been to see yet. Maybe I'll show you guys when they pass through again."

"Sounds good," said Mikaela. "I'd like to know how he deals with those things."

Of course it wasn't so much of an issue not that they weren't going to be traveling so much. For all her sarcasm she did really hope this place could work out for them. Where else would they go?

Ross started making faces at the greko. The show of annoyance going on till the giant creature had enough. A large tongue flicking out and catching Ross right between eyes. Sending the man reeling back in mostly shock.

Mikaela laughed. "You asked for it."

The Prince hovered over Ross in slight concern, before getting knocked back by the tongue himself.

Ross grumbled. "That thing has incredable aim for a giant gecko. Damn."

"Probably been aggravated enough times that it's gotten in plenty of practice," Mikaela guessed, as the Prince glided behind her. "Not like there's much else ot do around here."

The gecko's tongue nailed her in the face. Angry, she gave it a small shock in return.

Ross laughed. "Well I think the creature is just grumpy. We should leave it alone and let the little monster sleep."

Mikaela gave a huff of indignation but left the gecko alone.

Ross grinned and stretched. Walking out of the stables. "Would you like to see the smaller animals? They're kept in hutches during the warm months and indoors during the cold ones."

"As long as they don't fire slobbery tongues at me, sure," Mikaela replied.
