Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

Pheobie looked insulted. "I don't make gourmet food. I make real food. You go and get your little friends and I'll make you some filling stew. How's that?" She snipped. "That ought to be enough for you all and the griffin."

Voltaire was a bit surprised at her reaction, as was Maple.

"Whatever. Stew should be fine," Voltaire answered, going off to fetch the others. "Just make enough to satisfy a 12-foot-tall bird too."

"Yeah, yeah. I hear you" Pheobie replied.

She blinked at Maple when she realized he was staring. "What? I'm actually proud of my cooking"

"Oh yes, yes," Maple replied. "Please don't mind Mr. Caveman here. He has it tough."

"I'm a Hunter!" Voltaire barked back from a distance.

"...And incredibly good hearing."

"Well I'm going in to cook" Pheobie stated, heading back in.

"Fine idea," replied Maple, following her and closing the door behind them. "Our friend can knock when he wants food."

Maple nearly tripped over the cat, who was chasing after something small and pink.

Pheobie frowned and had to do a double take. "Was that a squirrel?" She asked. "Nevermind, kitty'll get it." she continued to the kitchen. "I'll need two large pots. We got those?"

"Should be somewhere in the kitchen," Maple replied. "The...lower right cabinet, maybe?"

"Thank you." Pheobie replied, searching the cabinet and finding two very large pots for her purpose.

"What do you know? I was right for once," Maple replied with some amusement. He sat down on the couch and checked the mission report sent to him via GS. It said something about a possible anomalous worm in the world.

Pheobie set to work gathering the ingredients. It was a simple stew, but tasty if done right.

Maple yelped as the pink thing and then the cat raced across his lap, startling him. The two animals began running in circles around the couch.

Pheobie put the stew on to simmer and walked into the lounge. The pink thing made a beeline for her, followed closely by the cat. If raced up her leg and around her torso, headed for her face.

She let out a shriek of surprise and thrashed, trying to get it off.

It bit her, making her yelp, before jumping off and running off leading the cat away.

"It bit me!" Pheobie stated angrily.

Maple nearly tripped over the squirrel and cat again as they raced between his legs. "You okay?" he called, going to Pheobie. "Where did it bite you?"

Pheobie lifted her loose tanktop to show Maple the angry red mark on her side. A little blood trickled from it. "It just startled me is all."

"I should have some bandages somewhere in the kitchen. If I can remember where they are," Maple replied, as he began looking through drawers. So far he was having no luck.

Pheobie sat on the counter, feeling light headed. "I'll be fine. Its not bleeding that much."

"Well we can't be having the blood ruin your outfit, can we?" said Maple. "Ah, here we are!"

He took out an oversized bandage and placed it over the wound. "There, that's better."

"I guess." Pheobie mumbled. "Its kinda hot in here"

"Feeling okay?" asked Maple.

"I feel funny all of a sudden" Pheobie admitted

"Do you need to lay down?" asked Maple in concern. Had that little pink rodent been venomous? He hoped not.

"No, I need to keep an eye on the stew" Pheobie sighed.

"Well I can..." Maple began to offer, before thinking about it. "Well, probably not. Don't know jack about making stew. But if start feeling really sick, don't be afraid to go lie down."

"I don't really feel sick. More... Hot. Burning up. But not feverish" Pheobie admitted
