Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

"Little bit" Pheobie admitted. She curled up tighter in the blanket.

"Can I see your face at least?" asked Maple. "Or did you turn into some horrible monster while I was away?"

Pheobie pulled the blanket down so the top half of her head was exposed. She peaked up at him nervously.

"That's better," said Maple, holding up the teddy bear. "Look what I got."

Pheobie nodded. "Cute" She mumbled.

Maple set the teddy bear next to Pheobie. "So everything been alright, aside from being sick?"

Pheobie shrugged. "I guess..." she mumbled

"We should be able to leave for regular trips once you're better," said Maple. "That will be more interesting than here."

Pheobie bit her lip and pulled the blanket back over her head. "I'm not gonna get better....." She mumbled. "Not for a while..."

"What?" asked Maple. "What do you have?"

"I don't wanna talk about it." Pheobie mumbled.

"If it's something serious then I need to hear about it," said Maple.

"... Maybe you should talk to the doctor..." Pheobie mumbled. "I really really don't want to talk about it"

"...Is it terminal?" asked Maple. "Corruption?"

Pheobie shook her head.

"Can't be too horrible then," said Maple. "It's something embarrassing, isn't it?"

Pheobie shrugged.

"Well, I suppose I should talk to the doctor about it then," mused Maple.

Pheobie pulled the bear under the blanket. "Thank you for the bear..." She mumbled.

"You're welcome," Maple replied. "I'll be back later."

"Mmkay" Pheobie mumbled

Maple left the room, and then came back in. "Which doctor did you see?"

"The pretty brunette lady." Pheobie mumbled

"Ah, Mrs. Woodbury. Thanks," Maple replied, this time leaving the room for good.

Pheobie pulled the blanket off her head with a sigh.
