Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

Maple sat waiting on the other end, a little more uneasy with each ring.

Pheobie decided not to get up, letting out a sigh when the phone stopped ringing. She closed her eyes. Now she had a headache as well as no appetite.

"...When was the last time you guys checked on her?" asked Maple with some concern.

"I'll go down there and check," assured Smith, leaving.

Pheobie sighed lightly and tried to just go to sleep. It made sense that it would at least get rid of her head ache.

After a few minutes Smith arrived and knocked on her door. "You alright Pheobie?"

Pheobie groaned in aggravation, only barely being heard through the door.

"You trying to sleep? I'm sorry," Smith replied hastily. "It's just that the professor tried to call you earlier and when you didn't answer he started to get worried, so he sent me down to check. But you're trying to sleep so I'll leave you alone now."

Pheobie gave him another groan.

Quickly Smith left the area to go report to Maple.

Pheobie rolled over again, upsetting Mr Kitty (Who moved to the other end of the bed) and forcing Goldie to shift again.

"So she was just trying to sleep?" asked Maple. He sighed. "Didn't mean to disturb her."

"She'll come visit when she's feeling better," said Smith. "I mean, you wouldn't want to see her sick anyway, right? Or have you make you sick."

"Which reminds me, how are you still here then?" asked Maple. "You've been escorting her all over the place and yet you're still fine."

"The key word being yet," Smith groaned.

(he knows the rumors but doesn't know how much to believe them)

Pheobie finally managed to drift off to sleep

(yeah, let's do that)

Well, it had taken long enough, but he was finally released from the medical wing. He found it awkward to do things with only one good arm, but he managed everything but opening water bottles by himself. Now the first thing he was going to do was see Pheobie.

Pheobie was in bed again. That seemed to be all she had been doing thew past few days was laying in bed and contemplating her future.

Maple stopped outside her door, carrying a teddy bear as get-well present. It seemed a better idea than getting food, since her stomach was upset. He knocked on the door.

"I'm still alive Smith." Pheobie stated loud enough for him to hear. She had her arm thrown over her eyes as she laid with Mr Kitty on her stomach and Goldie laying next to the bed. She had assumed Maple was Smith because he had been the one checking up on her the past couple of days.

"Good to hear!" Maple chirped back. "Though my name's not Smith."

Pheobie sat bolt straight up, Mr Kitty falling off her with a disgruntled hiss. Her eyes were wide with surprise.

"Anyway, can I come in? Or are you still puking your guts out?" asked Maple through the door.

"S-sure" Pheobie mumbled, barely loud enough for him to hear. She grabbed the blanket and pulled it over her head to curl up underneath it and curl up.

Maple came in, closing the door behind him. "Hello dear. Sorry I haven't come earlier. Had to wait for my arm to heal up before I could leave." His hurt arm was still sore, bearing some new scars.

"sorry you got hurt" Pheobie mumbled from under the blanket.

"It should be my GS that's apologizing. It's what blew up on my arm," said Maple. "But I suppose it's off in GS heaven now. Or GS hell."

Pheobie made a small noise of agreement.

On the floor Goldie yawned.

"What about you, dear? Feeling any better?" asked Maple, sitting on the corner of the bed. He poked at her with his gift teddy bear.
