Saving Soul

"Next time remind me to look into some seasonings" Anja stated

"Okay," Adair replied.

Voltaire seemed slightly miffed, but continued to work on his meal.

Anja continued to pick at her thrush.

Adair finished his first piece of meat, and started on another smaller piece.

Anja finished hers. "I think I'm full" She stated

"Same," said Voltaire, tossing away the leftover bone. Adair and Ava were still finishing their meals.

"Thank you" she smiled to Voltaire

"Welcome," Voltaire replied, starting to clean up.

Anja wiped her hands on her pants. "Better than I could do. I can't cook meat right."

"If you're a Hunter, you better know how to cook what you catch," Voltaire replied blandly.

Adair finished up his meal. "It'll be a long day of traveling tomorrow. We need to catch up on lost time."

"Alright" Anja nodded

Adair yawned. All the warm food in his belly was making him sleepy.

"I assume we're sleeping soon?" Anja asked

"Probably," Voltaire replied. "Though we'll probably be sleeping quite a bit on the flight tomorrow too."

"Hmm, sounds good" Anja yawned

"Inside then," said Ava, heading for the cave. "Bedtime."

Adair and Voltaire sleepily followed.

Anja followed, stretching as she went.

Ava settled down into her makeshift nest and raised up her wings. Adair and Voltaire settled on opposite sides as usual.

Anja crawled under the wing with Adair. She cuddled close to him. "Night Guys"

"Goodnight!" chirped Ava, lowering her wings over them.

"Night," said Voltaire from the other side.

"Goodnight," said Adair, nuzzling her hair.

Anja smiled and easily drifted off.

Adair was soon asleep as well. He sang lightly in his sleep.

Anja was the first to wake. She carefully slipped from under Ava's wing and stepped outside to watch the sunrise.

Ava noticed Anja leave but made no fuss about it. The boys slept on.

Anja smiled. She liked watching the sunrise. It was peaceful.
