Rain Dance

"If you think it's dark enough," said Voltaire. Indeed the sun had almost disappeared.

"Ava will need to wait here anyway." Kimi stated apologetically. "I'm not sure if she can make it to his barn unnoticed. Is that okay?"

"Yeah," said Ava, though she sounded disappointed. "Can they come to meet me later?"

"Of course! We'll come and take you to the barn when its safe!" Kimi assured her. "We just have to wait until everyone else is sleeping."

"Okay," said Ava. She flew down to the ground so they could get off easier.

Kimi was the first to slide off. She impatiently bounced on her feet as she waited for the other two.

"I don't think I've ever seen you this eager to go someplace," remarked Voltaire with a smirk as he and Adair slid off.

Ava reclaimed her roost in the tree. "Bye!"

"Bye Ava!" Kimi chirped. She turned and started off, her pace quick. "I want to see Damon!" She retorted to Voltaire

"Should I be jealous?" Voltaire teased as he and Adair quickly followed.

"Why would you be jealous?" Kimi asked, looking over her shoulder

"Because you're so happy to see him and not me," Voltaire replied, sticking out his tongue.

Kimi stopped. "But I'm always happy to see you!" she protested

"I know," he said, giving her a quick kiss. "Can't you take a joke?"

Kimi continued to pout as she started leading them again, though much slower. She led them to a simple house with a large barn behind it, stopping a few feet from the front porch.

Voltaire nuzzled her hair a little while she waited. He was worried she had taken his teasing the wrong way.

After they were only standing there a moment, the door slammed open. "I don't know how many times I have to tell you..." A deep voice growled threateningly as a shadow stepped out onto the porch holding a hatchet.

Kimi slowly stepped forward into the light.

"...Your highness?" The shadow breathed, the hatchet dropping to the floor. "Little Kimi?"

Kimi grinned brightly and rushed into the shadowy figure's arms joyfully.

Voltaire and Adair also came into the light.

"Hello," greeted Adair.

"Hey," said Voltaire. "So you're Damon?"

Damon released Kimi. His skin was a dark gray with long pointy ears while his eyes were a piercing silver. His hair was almost white and he was very muscular. "I am. And you are the princess's companions?" he asked stepping to the side and gesturing them into the house.

Kimi stepped inside without a second thought.

Voltaire and Adair walked in.

"I'm Voltaire."

"And I'm Adair."

Damon gave a slight nod. "Pleased to meet you." He stated.

Kimi was seated on the couch, playing with a little black and white kitten.

Voltaire sat down next to Kimi, though he didn't try to play with the kitten. Animals usually disliked him. Adair remained standing.

"So what brings you here princess, and with two changeling none the less" Damon asked

The kitten looked to Voltaire and swatted at him with his claws.

"Lucifer!" Damon snapped, causing the kitten to lay its ears back and try to look innocent.

Voltaire wasn't surprised by the tiny attack, and so didn't make a big deal of it. The scratches healed in a matter of seconds.

"How did you know we were changelings?" asked Adair.

"When you've been alive as long as I have, you start to pick up on the vibes of different things." Damon replied with a shrug.

"And how long has that been?" asked Voltaire.
