Rain Dance

Voltaire shrugged. "Shouldn't be so bad then. She senses emotions, not pain."

"Then so long as you stay calm you should be fine" Damon replied

Kimi smiled slighlty. "Thank you Damon"

Voltaire nodded. "Yeah, thanks."

"Whatever." Damon shrugged. "Make yourselves at home. Your red-headed friend can sleep on the couch, there's a second bedroom at the end of the hall for the two of you. My door will be closed." Damon stated.

Dawn's markings seemed to glow brighter at the statement.

"Adair will probably stay with Ava, but I'll let him know about the couch," Voltaire replied. He stood up and stretched.

Damon nodded. "Good night." He stated, turning on his heel and walking to his room. Dawn eagerly followed him.

Kimi stood as well. she yawned softly

Adair came in soon afterward. "Ava's at the barn. She's wondering when she'll get to see the others."

"Tomorrow. They just went to bed," replied Voltaire. "Which reminds me, you can sleep on the couch if you want. Me and Kimi are taking the second bedroom."

"I think I'll stay with Ava," Adair replied.

"I thought so, just letting you know," Voltaire replied. Adair soon walked out again.

Kimi carefully walked down the hallway and crawled into the bed. It was odd after not sleeping in a bed for so long.

It was even stranger for Voltaire, who was used to cave floors with fur or sitting up against warm feathers. Still, it was nice. He cuddled up to Kimi.

Kimi smiled at him sleepily. "Love you" She mumbled

"Love you too," said Voltaire, embracing her.

Kimi snuggled into his embrace and it wasn't long at all before she was asleep.

Voltaire stayed awake a bit longer. He needed to think of a good lie to get them to stay here longer, but his tired brain wasn't working. It wasn't just for the power boost. This was an act of intimacy. He fell asleep thinking about that.

Damon and Dawn were the first ones up (mostly because Dawn was always up with the sun and wouldn't let Damon sleep longer than him). Damon went outside to chop wood, which was part of his daily ritual, while Dawn went into town to shop for groceries. Both looked human when they stepped out of the house.

Ava woke up soon after, but stayed where she was as Adair slept on.

Voltaire also slept on, singing softly in his sleep.

When Damon was done chopping wood, he took them, armload by armload, to the barn. When he was done, he stopped in front of Ava. "So you're the familiar huh."

"Yep, I'm Ava!" the phoenix greeted cheerfully. "So you're Damon?"

Damon nodded. "That's right." With his Glamour up he had tanned skin and blonde hair, the only thing not hidden was his silver eyes.

"Nice to meet you," Ava replied. "I'm glad Kimi has friends other than us."

Damon nodded "Its good to have friends" he agreed

"I've heard you have an angel for a friend," said Ava.

"If you want to call him that" Damon chuckled.

Ava tilted her head. "He's not?"

"Not exactly. We're something more I suppose" Damon smiled slightly.

"Oh. Hmm...like Volty and Kimi then?" Ava guessed. "Though Fiery says it usually doesn't work that way unless they're opposites."
