Have a Heart

Ellona laid there and plotted. Maybe she could scale the wall into the garden. If only she could get free.

Daniel laid there and tried to sleep, but he wasn't very successful. He wasn't sure how he should handle Ellona.

After a little while, Ellona piped up. "I have to go to the bathroom."

"Alright," Daniel replied, before remembering that they were chained together. Relunctantly he got up.

Ellona got up as well, leading him over to her closet to grab her clothes for the day, leaving her boots because she couldn't carry them. Then they headed out, inadvertently running into Gregory at the bathroom.

"Morning," Daniel greeted Gregory blandly, as if being chained to his fiance was perfectly normal.

"So you survived the night" Gregory smirked

"Unchain us so I can take a bath." Ellona snapped.

Gregory grumbled and pulled out the keys.

"Why do they entrust the keys to you?" Daniel asked Gregory. "Why not a guard?"

"Cause A guard isn't smart enough or talented enough to hex the keys." Gregory replied, unlocking the shackles and watching Ellona slam the bathroom door behind her. "Or sleep with the keys in his underwear."

"Is it smart mentioning that?" Daniel asked with a slight smirk.

"Would you stick your hand down my pants?" Gregory smirked "Cause I know Lonna wouldn't."

"Fair enough," Daniel replied. "But I could cut a hole in it with a sword."

"I doubt it. My room is hexed remember?" Gregory smirked.

"Right," Daniel replied. "Either way all we'd get is new shackles."

"Essentially." Gregory knocked on the door. "Hey Lonna, How long you gonna be?"

...

"Lonna?"

"Of course it may be harder to shackle someone if they're not there," Daniel remarked, suspecting he already knew Ellona's plan.

"Shit!" Gregory yelled, wrenching the door open to find the room empty and the window open. He rushed to it and looked out only to see Ellona striding out of the garden. "Sonovabitch!"

Daniel was amused by Gregory's not-so-princely language.

(How did Ellona get out? Would Daniel be able to follow her directly or would he have to take another rute?)

Ellona walked out to the barn and saddled her horse in a matter of moments. She swung herself up into the saddle and started off.

(She quite literally climbed down the wall. He can't follow cause he's so much larger than her)

Daniel headed down the castle steps hurriedly to catch her. He was not going to let his fiance run away from him. For one there were plenty of monsters in the area. Not that she couldn't handle herself, but there could be trouble if a pack of demons showed up.

Ellona was already riding out the castle gate by the time he got out there. She stuck out her tongue at him over her shoulder as rode out of sight.

That looks like a challenge, Daniel thought with a smirk as he readied his horse and chased after her.

Ellona figured that it wouldn't take Adair long to be on her trail which is why she had picked the gelding she rode. Originally it had been Seirra's so if let loose it would wander into the village and graze next to the blacksmith's shop (No one was entirely sure why since the horse had been born and raised on Seirra's family's farm). She rode him to the fork she wanted and slipped off, her bare feet soundless.
She had dressed in the bathroom so she was wearing her tunic and breeches, but the breeches only reached to her ankles. She had to be careful not to leave footprints.
Ellona shooed the horse on and carefully walked the short distance to her true destination. She made sure that she hadn't left any footprints before entering the cemetery.
In the very back, buried next to his father, was Seirra. The sword used by both men had been embedded in a marble stone between the headstones. Ellona walked slowly, gracefully like the princess she was, to the sword then sat with her back against the stone. The sword was taller than she was, the blade alone was over five feet long, and broad making it a good back rest.
"Hey Sare, Sorry I haven't been to see you in a little while. Dad's gone and betrothed me to a Gale. He's such a tool" Ellona murmured to the graves. "I hate him. He made a fool out of me and he he doesn't even care. He's just how you described the Gales. I wish you were still here. I miss you" She drew her knees to her chest and rested her head on them, easily falling into a light sleep due to her recent insomnia.
She did not see the ghostly apparition appear and take a seat next to her, but she did feel the soft touch of a familiar hand stroking her hair and she could almost register the voice whispering soft reassurances.

Daniel galloped ahead with determination. He soon came across Ellona's horse, but no Ellona. He went into the nearby blacksmith's to see if she was hiding there.

The blacksmith looked up at his entry. "She ain't here." He stated, already knowing what the hero wanted, he had seen the horse.
