"That why they respond to the betrothal request our dad send out to the neighboring kingdoms?" Gregory asked

"Most likely," Daniel replied.

"So what kind of training did you have to go through?" Gregory asked

"Fighting, manners, torture," Daniel replied. "As in standing up to torture, not giving torture."

"Sounds rough. You like being a hero?" Gregory asked

"Can't see myself doing much of anything else," replied Daniel. "So yeah."

"Kasey says most heroes are tools." Gregory stated. "That they just do it for the glory" They reached the beginning of what looked th be an endless spiral staircase.

"I do know some Heroes like that," Daniel replied. "We're trained not to be like that though. Being too emotional and egotistical is a good way to get yourself killed."

"So they train you to kill your emotions so to speak?" Gregory asked as he climbed the stairs.

"...Something like that," Daniel answered.

"Neat. Wish 'Lona would learn something like that. Maybe she's be a little nicer." Gregory chuckled.

Daniel just nodded. Part of it was training. Part of it was forced. She wouldn't like it.

Finally after almost ten minutes of stairs, they reached the top. Gregory opened his door to reveal a large room cluttered with books and magic tools and artifacts. "You are invited in." He stated, somewhat dramatically. "Sorry, there's a spell on the door that won't let anyone in unless invited." he explained as he stepped through.

"Good way to keep out intruders," said Daniel. "I could use one of those for my room. Little brothers are always sneaking in."

"They're easy enough to set up, but hard to maintain." Gregory stated. "Good old fashioned booby traps are so much easier. I just keep the door because its good practice."

"Never been that good with traps or magic myself," admitted Daniel.

"Not in a heroes repitwar to use traps?" Gregory asked with a smirk.

"Not usually. That's more of a Hunter thing," said Daniel, looking around at all the books. "We do know how to read though. A lot of Hunters don't, or can't do it that well."

"Ever think of cross crafting?" Gregory asked. "You never know when a skill will come in handy."

"Cross-crafting?" asked Daniel.

"Yeah, training in another craft for at least a short time to learn some of the skills that they teach and use" Gregory explained.

"Doesn't sound like a bad idea actually," replied Daniel. "I know some Hunter friends I could learn from. Though I would probably never hear the end of it."

"There's no shame in learning new skills" Gregory stated

"No, it's just we Heroes and Hunters are a bit like cats and dogs," Daniel explained. "We can work together when we want or need to, but we tend to get on each other's nerves too."

"So like me and 'Lon?" Gregory asked. He moved over to his dresser and pulled out a different, more worn and faded blue tunic. he pulled off his nice tunic and draped it across the chair to his desk.
