Some Things Just Can't Be Understood

Pheobie giggled and moved over to the pot to begin dishing stew into Goldie's bowl. "Sometimes I wonder if you just like the sound of your own voice."

"I probably do," Maple replied casually, laughing. "I'm used to traveling by myself a lot, so I'm all the company I've got. But if it starts to annoy you just let me know and I'll shut up for a bit."

"Why would I do that?" Pheobie asked, setting Goldie's bowl on the floor. "I never said I didn't like the sound of your voice"

"Sometimes my blathering annoys people after a while," Maple answered. "But if you don't mind it I won't worry about it."

"I think its funny and cute." Pheobie smiled.

"Thanks," Maple replied a bit shyly. "Think the kid will like it, or will he or she just wail?"

"I think they'll like it." Pheobie smiled

"They'll? I dunno if I can handle twins," Maple joked. "But yeah, they'll get used to it anyway."

"They will. It can be either singular or plural to refer to a third party of unknown gender" Pheobie recited.

"I know, dear. I'm being purposefully stupid," Maple replied with a grin as he sat down in the lounge.

Pheobie followed him in, empty handed. "Why?"

"I don't know," Maple replied. "Do you ever have those times where your mouth works before your brain does?"

"Sometimes" Pheobie giggled

"I guess it was one of those moments," Maple replied with a shrug, before starting on his stew. "Delicious as always."

"Thank you" Pheobie smiled

"You're welcome," Maple replied. Goldie also feasted on his stew. Mr. Kitty came up demanding to be fed as well.

"Oh, I'll go get you some" Pheobie smiled, getting up and going back into the kitchen.

"So many mouths to feed, eh?" Maple remarked.

Pheobie came back with a small bowl for Mr Kitty. "I don't mind" She smiled

"Me neither," said Maple. "Better than being alone."

Pheobie nodded. She set the bowl on the floor for Mr Kitty. "Here you go"

Mr. Kitty hurried over to the bowl and began to chow down. Goldie, having finished his food, went over to investigate Mr. Kitty's dinner. The feline hissed at the griffin, growling lowly with his ears back.

"No Goldie" Pheobie scolded.

Goldie whined and plopped down at her feet, hoping to get more food.

Pheobie pet him happily. "S'amatter?" she cooed
