Saving Soul

"Why does water support life and poison ruin it? That's just how it works," the snakeman replied coolly.

"Well people are stupid." Anja snorted.

"And I must agree," the snakeman replied. "They see an eclipse and assume the world is ending. It almost never fails. Now we'll go on with the rest of the examination."

Anja whined, her arms wrapped around Adair's neck as she had convinced him to carry her to their cave since Ava had gone on ahead. "I'm ti~ired" She pouted up at him cutely.

"I know," Adair replied, tired and sore himself. Despite that he held himself up with dignity as they headed over to the cave.

Anja cuddled his chest. "You're so strong~" she purred. She was trying to play the part of the pretty girl to both lower the guards of their opponents and to boost Adair's ego a little. That and if the wolf changeling saw them, she wanted her to be totally jealous.

Adair felt more embarrassed than proud, as the other changelings seemed amused by the sight. He felt relieved when they finally reached the cave.

"Hmm, something Wrong Addy?" Anja asked, taking note of his silence.

"Oh, just tired," Adair reassured, nuzzling her hair a little.

Anja tilted her head up to lightly kiss his cheek. "Anything I can kiss better?" She whispered

"Arms mostly," replied Adair as he put Anja down and then sat down himself. "I make fun of Taire for fearing shots, but getting so many is a pain."

"I'm mostly used to it" Anja shrugged, but she began kissing his arms anyway.

"Used to it?" asked Adair.

"Needles. Shots." Anja murmured, her lips light against his skin. "Summoners are made, not born"

"Oh," Adair replied. He suspected he didn't want the details. "Tough girl then."

"Mmhm" Anja smiled, pushing him onto his back and sitting on his chest. "Very tough"

Adair was surprised by the push, but not overly alarmed.

"Uh-oh, whatever should I do?" Adair teased, casually putting his hands behind his head.

Anja giggled and gently traced lines up his neck. "I don't know hero, what should you do?"

"I should probably fight, but I don't feel like it," Adair replied lazily, her touch leaving trails of electric fire tingling on his skin.

Anja smiled. "Well what do you want to do?"

"Just lay here and stare at you," Adair replied.

Anja smiled. "Is that all you want to do?"

"For now," Adair replied with a yawn.

Anja pouted slightly. "Fine then." She got up. "Show me to the cafeteria you were talking about earlier. I'm hungry"

"Does that mean I have to get up too?" Adair asked jokingly.
